Sophie shouldn't have been surprised. Yet, she was still astonished that the human statue was gone, but the scepter stayed. The scepter was another reminder of Nightfall, with Vespera's rune-symbol to top it off. She wondered why the elves had taken the human statue away.

Maybe elves were still mad about the humans taking advantage of their treaty?

No offense to the Council, but they were being childish. The treaty had been broken many decades before Sophie came to the Lost Cities. She hoped that the Council saw her as an ambassador from the Forgotten Cities. She hadn't noticed that Elysian was eyeing Vespera's symbol on the scepter.

"I... have seen that symbol before." Elysian said slowly. She reached to rub her temples.

"Where?!" Sophie, Rayni, and all her friends exclaimed wildly.

"It... was so long ago," Elysian said, her eyes seeming to be distant. "I don't fully remember." she said apologetically.

Sophie's friends seemed disappointed, but they weren't ready to give up. Her friends were working extra hard to get better in training and defeat the Neverseen when they made their next move.

The final gambit was yet to be played.

Dex had a breakthrough and installed leaping crystals rigged to the person who pressed their panic ring's location.

He also invented a sedative which could wake the patient at any time and promise dreamless sleep. Sophie definitely needed one of those.

Maruca learned to stabilize a blue force field and phase weapons

through the force field. She could also create partial force fields, like the shape of her hand.

Marella could use fire to levitate her and is learning to control steam

too.

Stina, FINALLY, learned to feel emotions from distances. She was

learning to feel the emotions of animals too!

Wylie was training with Elysian, Rayni, and his Mentor. He was

learning to obscure Sophie and her friends the same way Elysian did.

Jensi was learning how to combine telekinesis and blinking. That way,

it wouldn't matter if he had a special ability or not.

Tam was controlling shadow flux more thoroughly and occasionally

turning them into lethal weapons of destruction. He could also take out an echo! If only he had been able to do that before...

Linh learned to manipulate anything that contained water, the less the

water, the harder it was.

Keefe was practicing his commanding ability... and was, sadly,

becoming progressively number. He could not feel Sophie's emotions as strongly as he had before... and was close to numb.

They needed Elysian. Not only to help Keefe, but to help take down the Neverseen once and for all.

Sophie scrambled for her Imparter and quickly made a frantic call

to Elysian.

"Can you come over really quickly?" Sophie said quickly, but in

a tone that meant that nothing was wrong.

"Sure, you want Team Techno to come too?" Elysian asked.

"No, just us," Sophie said firmly.
