"So, you are the power source we are all looking for." Lady Gisela stated.
"We?" the figure emphasized. "I assume you have been looking for me as well then," pointing to Sophie's group.
"I won't deny it." Lady Gisela said dryly. "I need you for Stellarlune."
"Stellarlune?" Elysian asked.
"Yes. Don't act like you don't know Rayni Aria."
"How do you know whether I have connections with her?" Elysian questioned.
"Because, twelve years after Prentice's memory break you two didn't acknowledge Foxfire anymore. You simply disappeared."
"Glimmer was friends with you?" Sophie cut in. "We need to talk to Glimmer." she whispered to her group.
Lady Gisela smiled.
"Forget it. I won't help you." Elysian replied.
"Oh, really? Because if you don't cooperate, I will make sure your daughter will never wake up again."
"You know my daughter?" Elysian's voice shook.
"Oh, I know everything, where you hid, your location, at all times. It wasn't a huge amount of effort to find you and Glimmer, or as I'm told, Rayni Aria."
"Stop." Keefe demanded.
The tree's song, from a deceased gnome's last wish, filled the silence that followed.
"Embrace the change, Keefe. Someday you will understand." Elysian spoke.
"How do you know about that?" Maruca cut in, palms up, ready to form a force field.
"Because she was part of Stellarlune." Elysian smiled, or Sophie thought she did. She laughed a deathly cackle and said in a smug tone,
"Don't ask, moonlark," as Sophie opened her mouth to ask a handful of questions.
Who was Elysian?
Who was this mysterious daughter?
What was the final step of Stellarlune?
Would Keefe survive after "Embracing the change"?
"I give you my word, you will get all your answers soon. Though I'm not so sure about that last question." Elysian's head tilted towards Fitz.
"You, can read my thoughts?" Fitz whispered. He closed his eyes and rubbed his temples.
"I'm not sure why you would want to know where Alvar is, especially with these circumstances." Elysian remarked. "But, I know what the Vacker legacy is."
"Which, we have no time for explaining." Lady Gisela smirked, reminding Sophie of Keefe before Loanmore.
His smiles.
His jokes.
His pranks.
All of which changed when he woke up after Loanmore. He was different now. And he always will be.
A snap echoed across the plains.
Lady Gisela held a crystal shaped like a goblin-throwing star.
She played with it menacingly in each hand, before pointing it at Sophie.
"Keep your inflicting under control. That's all I ask. Or you will never be back at Havenfield again." Lady Gisela smirked.
Sophie didn't care. She would do it for her friends. Lady Gisela would be withering in pain before the crystal would hit her.
She gathered all her memories that hurt her the most.
Lady Gisela smiling while Keefe went through a "transformation."
Every time Keefe had to admit he wasn't the same anymore.
Fitz standing among her friends as she was lectured about the storehouse fire.
She let all those memories go, and it felt like paradise. The heavy burden lifted above Sophie's shoulders. She pulled her mind back as the crystal flung towards her.
She was going to die.
