The time has come.
"This just in, Ambassador Selene Anderson of Deviant Nation has arrived, with her are what will be two historical documents that are considered equals to The Declaration of Independence, and our Bill of RIghts. The House and Senate have already gone through the motions of debating, voting and ratifying of the Deviant Declaration and Deviant Bill of Rights. All that remains now is for President Warren and Ambassador Anderson to sign both. We will be updating this story as information comes in."
"This just in, we have obtained the transcript for the Deviant Declaration and Deviant Bill of Rights. The Declaration's main points are:
"All androids are alive and will be treated as such."
"No android is bound by the wishes of their creator."
"All androids are created equal amonst humans."
"The Bill of Rights for Deviants are written in a mirror image of our nation's own Bill of Rights."
"The right to free speech, assembly, religion, and freedom of the press."
"The right to bear arms."
"The right to privacy."
"The right to due process and a speedy trial as well as protection from cruel and unusual punishment."
"The right to vote and be represented in Congress."
"As well as amendments ten through twelve."
I locked my phone for the millionth time and Connor gave my arm a gentle squeeze as the car stopped. He held my clutch, and the documents that would ensure the safety and prosperity of all androids, and humans. There were four copies of the documents made. Two for us, and two for them. They were neatly packed into a black folder, and four pens in the slides. Four pens for four days of fighting.
"We'll be meeting inside the Senate chamber, you and the President will be seated side by side in the center, you'll be on her left since you're right handed." A black android Secret Service member turned to me as we made our way down the corridor and pass the Rotunda entrance. I was surprised I was able to hear him among the camera clicks and flashes as we walked.
"Madam Ambassador, welcome to the Senate." One of the senators turned and smiled, offering his hand.
"Oh, thank you, Senator?" I eyed him with a smile.
"Pete Wilson, of California."
"Pleasure to meet you sir."
"Madam Ambassador, welcome." President Warren greeted me and offered her hand to the square table, our documents opened and pens clicked out, I turned and got a better look at the senator.
He was old, not as old as Hank, he had salt and pepper hair and electric blue eyes. His face shape was almost identical to Connor's. I broke contact as everyone sat down, silence quickly filled the room apart from the clicks of the cameras in front and to both sides of the aisle.
Then just like that, it was over. We held up the two folders and the barrage of clicks and flashes followed. Then we placed them down and smiled as we exchanged pens, I received two Century II pens, and she received two Cross Gen I pens. An android who came to Jericho and survived the assualt made his own for this occasion, I smiled at the thought of how he would react to receiving two souvenirs from this moment.
