"I can't believe he had the nerve to come here," North came and sat down on the sectional. Markus sat to her right, me and Connor were on the left. He called them the moment Elijah left.
"I'm mainly concerned about the threat he made against her, he knows about her telekinetic abilities," Connor spoke.
"I can hold my own against Elijah, you all have to remember he isn't the powerful CEO of CyberLife anymore, the three Chloe androids left him and his company becomes weaker with every passing day."
"My love, I can't let you put yourself at risk." Connor grabbed at my hands and laced them through.
"And I can't let all of you go and put your lives at risk for me. This isn't like before. All of you are important leaders and figures of DN. I'm just-"
"Don't say you're just a diplomat Selene, you're not. You and Connor saved us when the US Army had us pinned against the wall." Markus spoke up.
"Then what do we do Markus? I barricade myself here while you all go out and risk your lives? No, either we do this together or I'll do it alone." My tone became defensive.
"Selene," Connor came so he was facing me on the right, "I don't want to lose you, none of us do. Please. Let us help," His eyes were glistening with tears, and our earlier conversation flashed through mine.
It wasn't fair, his eyes gave away everything. He was clearly hurt by the words I had chosen to describe myself. But they were everything to me, them and Hank were all I had when it came to family, and I didn't want them to be at risk if I could help it.
"I'm sorry.. just... Please don't cry, I love all of you so much. You're all I have, you are my family. I can't just sit by and let you and everyone I care about create a wall around me and fight while I sit on the sidelines. That's not who I am and it never will be." My voice broke and I reached over to wiped his tears away.
"We understand Selene, and we don't want you to fight alone either." North moved closer to Markus and put her hand under mine, the contact turning it into ivory. I gazed at her, then at the rest of them. I wonder.
"Alright, I will acquiesce. But under one condition." I raise one finger and they nod.
"I need to learn how to expand these gifts Lucy has given me, right now I feel like I'm at level 1, with the way things are going, and what could happen, I need to get to the highest level possible." I reach over and bring an empty cup over to the coffee table, then I tried lifting the pitcher but felt the tell tale sign of a nose bleed. It was a gallon size but made of glass.
"Selene, you shouldn't-" Connor started.
"I need to Connor," I flexed my hand and it landed shakily on the table, then I felt the small gush of blood trail down my lip, chin, and onto the glass. I leaned back and Connor was behind me already.
"Selene, you-"
"Connor, this is called endurance, while you have no limits on how much you can lift or how fast you can run, I do. When my mind tells me I'm at my limit I have to push just a little. Eventually I'll be able to do more, but this is the way it will need to be done."
North left and came back with soft tissue from the bathroom, taking it I twisted it then plugged my left nostril and leaned back into Connor's chest, he wrapped his arms around me and they stood.
"I'll reach out to one of our own and have them get a team formed to make you and the rest of us a bunker and a training area. If the press asks we'll just tell them we're taking security measures after the Watergate incident." Markus spoke gently. I nodded.
