More to come.
"This just in, former Senator Pete Wilson and the conspirators behind the December 1st attack on the Watergate Hotel have pleaded not guilty for attempted assasination, felonious assault, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping of a government official. Due to the nature of the charges they all have been denied bond and remanded to jail. Which means for the first time in our history a formerly elected official will sit in jail until trial. We attempted to reach out to Selene Anderson for comment but Markus, the leader of Jericho and the androids, did speak on her behalf."
"This attack will not stand, the Ambassador has fought tirelessly for our rights and we will stand to protect her. An attack on her is an attack on all of us. We will be keeping a close eye on this trial and those involved in it."
Markus stuck true to his words, with everything calm and settled here he's able to engage like an elected official. We're still working out the kinks in building a formal democracy here but several androids have already began running for congressional seats from federal to the local level.
"Crisis temporarily diverted. Now we just wait." Connor came from the kitchen wiping his hands.
I stood and walked to the table, my eyes widened a bit in surprise at what was there.
"You made Beef Wellington? Babe you may have just found your calling," I smiled and sat down.
"I do enjoy cooking, but only for you my love." He took a sip of thirium as I cut into the meat.
"Well I'm glad to have you as my exclusive chef." I wink.
He kept his eyes on me, watching. I smiled at the wonder in his eyes.
"What?" I swallowed.
"Nothing. It's just... I feel so domestic. It's strange but a good feeling."
"You're becoming acclimated, after facing chaos on a daily basis your mind is feeling shell shocked at the sudden change. I understand it, I mean look at me."
"I do enjoy looking at you, preferbly when we're-" I pinch his arm and he smiles.
"Madam Ambassador?" James walks through the door.
"James we've been over this, you don't need to call me that when we're at home. Selene or Miss Anderson." I turned over.
He nodded, "your uncle is here."
"What the hell is all this? Elizabeth sure went far to apologize Sel." He eyed them both before sitting down.
"Well it seems she's the type to apologize to the highest degree. I'm glad they were here when I went back for the hearing, God knows what would of happened if I didn't have them."
"I saw that on the news, those facist pricks are like cockroaches only you can't squish 'em." He eyed my plate.
"Is that Beef Wellington?"
"That's exactly what I said, yours truly made it," I pointed over to Connor.
"Damn son, you really got some skills there."
He smiled, "I'll go get you a plate."
"No it's ok, I got something from Gary's trailer. I actually came to ask you something."
"What?" He turned.
"We want you to come back Connor." He sat back.
If my eyes could they'd probably bulge out of the sockets. "What?" We speak in unison.
