we sat in the classroom in pure silence, too startled to say something as i glued my gaze on my desk. i still couldn't process it

we lost two soldiers, ms. park, and yeong-hoon too

that explained why chi-yeol and il-ha was a acting weird after yeong-hoon 'went home'. they witnessed his death by the attacks from the unknown creatures. i almost felt sick after imagining how yeong-hoon got killed by the spheres

"this isn't... a dream, right? did ms. park... really.... really-" sun-yi asked, her gaze on the walls as she broke down into tears. i closed my eyes, running my hand through my hair with tears streaming down

seo-yoon suddenly stood up, saying

"i'm going home. i can't stay here any longer" she took off her vest, walking back to the locker as i glanced at na-ra and yu-jeong who were startled as me

"seo-yoon" yu-jeong called out, trying to stop her as joon-hee said the same, taking off the vest as i stayed on my seat with hesitance. my mind wandered to my aunt who was alone at home, and if the spheres had made its way to there too

i gasped at the thought, covering my mouth in fear

"damn it. in the end, they just want us to fight that thing" hee-rak said, standing up and ha-na agreed with him, doing the same as seo-yoon and joon-hee

"will you stop acting like a child?" bo-ra scolded, holding her wrist as ha-na replied

"i don't care about college or getting extra points for CSAT!"

"will you think before you act? don't just pack up and leave" they both argued as i sighed

"i don't care, i'm leaving" she took back her hand from bo-ra's grasp, going to the locker as the others started to do the same. i stayed still, not knowing what to do

if we leave, there's a bigger chance of death if the spheres are lurking outside. and we will be stripped off from our guns and no soldiers to protect us. but at the same time, i really want to see my aunt and stay with her until whatever those creatures go back to where they came from
