it was night, and as usual, the same nightmare would re-occur whenever i closed my eyes

to prevent that, i started staying up most of the nights. i made my way to the exit of the building, holding a small journal i found while doing a search at a nearby store. i sat down on the stairs, opening the book and went through the pages i've scribbled at with my thoughts

it was mostly about chun-ho, then our struggles of trying to hold out in here with the broken radio. i've been dying to know what was happening out there when we're here, and sergeant kim who had been called to go back to the base

he was hesitant to leave us, but due to the strict order and leaders, he had no choice

i opened a new page, pouring my thoughts on the page with the almost broken pen. it was running out of ink, and i figured i should just steal one from yu-jeong tomorrow. it's not like she would care anyway

so i wrote more words i could think of, creating more sentences with nothing but grief. i ended it at the end of the page, and stared at my handwriting

it was sloppy, and definitely way different than how i used to write

oh well, things change

i sighed softly, looking up when the wind started to brush through my hair and the book that went to a random page. i put a pen between it, closing the book in silence. most of them were asleep, except jang-soo and ae-seol who were talking on the couch

i don't know about anybody else, but su-cheol had probably gone to bed

or else, he might be wandering around right now

i closed my eyes, taking a deep breath and thought of chun-ho. his last moment, his voice through the walkie talkie, and how the building exploded with him inside it. the sound of our cries, my screams, and the hopeless feeling weighing on my heart,

it was hell to live with

my changes were drastic too, concerning all of them, especially su-cheol, yu-jeong and na-ra. they played a big part on trying to get me back to my old self, the one who would always joke around and scold the boys whenever they did something foolish
