With each practice session, I noticed a significant improvement in my techniques, I felt myself getting better.A week passed, and the instructor challenged us with another task: this time, we had to take down 30 targets. I was thrilled to be the first one to complete it. Mike followed closely behind in second place, although he seemed a bit disappointed. It was quite amusing to me. And Jake secured the third spot.
I would practice in the mornings and nights because I felt that I was still too slow. I couldn't even compete to a level 10 evil one, so making sure I did better was my main goal.
I killed about maybe 100 of them today. So that made me about:
Inventory: (489 coins)
It was still so tiny. I would barely get anything with this. I was about to leave when suddenly....
"Turn around. Strike."
I quickly turned around, and when I did, both of our swords clashed.
It was Aiden.
"Nice reflex." He pulls back his sword, putting it inside the strap on his back.
"Thanks..."
We exited the woods, and he stopped me.
"You know.. if you get caught they'll kill you."
I stare at him, "I have nothing to lose." I shrug walking away.
A few hours later,
"Hey Jake, I'm going into town. Would you like to come?"
Jake agrees, and we head down into town.
People would now see above our heads that we were a part of the fighter's rank.
But for some reason, mine would stayed as error. They couldn't see how many kills I had, how strong I was, or why it was like that, so some stayed away.
I guess feeling unsure of what I truly could do made them frightened,
We enter inside the armor shop and I immediately go straight to the owner of the shop.
"Hey."
"Oh, Hi it looks like you've been doing pretty well for yourself!"
Jake was looking around the store but I knew I had to pay back the owner for his kindness.
I immediately transfer the money to him."Thank you! I knew I could trust you." He smiles.
I smile back.
"Hey, you know what."
The owner quickly goes to the back grabbing a box in his hand and bringing it to me.
"I want you to have this. I think it'll help you."
I looked inside to find two strength booster positions; these positions were worth a fortune.
"I can't take this. It's more than I can ever afford."
These cost about 10,000 each. I mean, if I started moving to the higher ranks, I could afford it, but at my current rank, there wasn't any possibility I could.
"Don't worry about it. It was given to me by a friend. Her name is Linda. She has a small potion shop near Grand a few blocks down. If you ever need more go to her."
I smile at him and quickly put the items into my inventory.
"Thank you I promise to repay you-
"I'll take this," Jake says, placing a butt load of stuff onto the counter.
I laugh."What?" he looked at me raising my eyebrows at him. "These are good items here."
A few moments later,
"It's how much?!!!"
"100,000 coins."
"Okay... uh, I guess I'll just take that..." he points to a small sword strap holder.
"That'll be 200 coins."
"How about I give you 50 and pay the rest back later?" Jake hesitantly rubs his head.
The shop owner glared at him and accepted only because I was there.
Meanwhile, as we left, Jake ranted at how much everything was.
"I can't believe that it was almost all my coins!!" Jake looks in his inventory to find only 100 coins left.
I giggle.
"It's not even funny; we seriously need to train."
"Well, I always offer, but you always choose your bed over it."
"Aye. Beauty sleep is a necessity too you know."
Suddenly, I push my arm in front of Jake.
We both slowly look up to see an evil one holding onto a person. In broad daylight?!
"Please help me!!!" She screams.
This one couldn't talk. It was only a level 4, so it shouldn't be that bad.
"Here's your chance, Jake, earn some extra coins."
I lunged forward and so did Jake.
It throws the person down and comes running towards us, "Slide."
I quickly slide under it, slicing its leg off
Inventory: 20 coins added.
"Hey, share some," Jake goes for the arm, slicing it off.
Inventory: 9 coins
"Bro it's not even funny I need more then that."
I laugh as I go for the head, slicing it off. That one was fairly easy.
Inventory: 75 coins added.
"Sooo... since I helped you...." Jake comes over, looking at me.
"Fine. Fine."
I send over 30 coins over to him.
"Thank you sir, pleasure doing business."
The lady that had been in his arms came to thank me, offering me some food.
I smile at her and kindly decline.
"Thank you, but I chose to protect you; I don't expect anything in return." I open my inventory, grab 10 coins, and give them to her.
"Bless your soul." She smiled, bowing to me and thanking me, not even caring that above me said Error; she was just thankful I saved her.
A day later,
I woke up to see everyone outside already with the instructor.I quickly joined and noticed everyone was looking at something.
When I pushed my way forward to see what was going on, I noticed a body torn apart. I quickly covered my mouth, "Oh my gosh."
It was a student from our class.
"This is what happens when you try and go to a higher levels and become greedy. You die."
"I can't do this anymore. I quit. This isn't what I signed up for," A guy from our class left, dropping his sword. Four others joined him.
That left 8 of us left.
"Anyone else?"
"Good. Now, we're moving on to the next stage. If you don't think you can join, you are allowed to stay here, but be warned you could get left behind."
No one chose to stay we all decided to move to the next stage.
