When it was finally my turn, they just asked for my name and address; I also gave them a false name and went by the name of Asher Jones.

I also gave them a false address—it was the lady's address from the bar I've been working at. I asked a few questions before I left, and she said that whatever needed to be done for me to join was okay.

"Okay... training starts tonight at 3 am; show them this."

She handed me a card with my name on it and a few numbers on the side.

"They only want people that know what they are doing on the field now so they are only picking the best to be in the front lines. Good luck and goodbye."

And with that, I was in.

I thought anyone could just go in the woods. I guess they are changing the rules since so many people are dying trying to make a profit from it, not realizing the danger they are in. I wish this one was a rule back then.

I sigh.

Well, I have nowhere else to be so I guess I'll stay here till late.

I look over to see a group of five people making a line as they lay down, ready to get some sleep.

I guess this is where I'll stay tonight as well.

I go ahead and join them, lying down on the grass, when a guy approaches me.

"Hey, what's up."

"Oh hey."

"Mind if I sit? Freaking exhausted man."

"Yeah go ahead."

"Is this going to be the line or something?" he asked looking at the others in front of me.

"Erm, I'm not sure. I just decided to stay here since I have nowhere else to go, " which was true.

"Nice, well, if it is, we'll be one of the firsts. My name is Jake by the way." He extends his hand.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Bell—Asher Jones." I hesitantly say as I shake his hand back.

"Nice to know we'll keep in touch, but I'm going to bed, so see ya." He quickly lays down on the floor, making himself comfortable.

He's weird. But nice. It might do me some good to make some friends around here anyways.

A few hours went by..

"Wake up, come on, wake up, Asher"

As I rubbed my eyes and sat up, I noticed people around me already getting disqualified and being forced to leave.

"Next," a guy says loudly.

"Go, Asher!" Jake shoves me forward still barely getting myself together after just waking up.

I stumble almost falling over.

I looked up, and to my fear, it was the guy who gave me the sword... the same one from the village.

He stood with his feet planted firmly, his body tense and ready for action. His grip on the sword was tight as he held it close to his body, prepared for me to strike.

"Let's see what you can do." He grinned, almost as if he came out of nowhere he charged right at me.

"Move," the voice tells me.

I take a deep breath and close my eyes.

I swiftly move from his strike just in time.

"yeah go Asher!" Jake shouts.

I pull my sword in front of me opening my eyes and facing him.

"Strike," the voice says.

We both go running at each other as our swords strike at one another, causing sparks with our swords.

"Come on, you can do better." He smirks, tripping me with his leg and trapping me with his sword facing directly at me.

"Out! Next!" The guy shouts behind me.

What? Just like that, I was out? After all the training I've done, was it still not enough?

"Maybe next time." The league fighter says, walking away.

No! I didn't come here to not get accepted! I stand back to my feet.

"I'm not done yet!" I shout holding myself high.

He turns back to me, shaking his head. "Your not ready."

"I didn't come here to just go home! I don't have a home this is all I have left! So kill me here, or I'm not going!" I shout, clutching my sword in my fists.

"Go. Strike." The voice repeats.

I run at him, and he shifts to the right, pushing me on the ground.

"Get up." He says, standing above me.

I suddenly felt overwhelmed, like I was losing control of my body. It was as if I had blacked out momentarily.

Like I had no idea what I was doing.

"In!!!!!!" Someone shouts.

All I heard was the ringing of people shouting with excitement.

I suddenly regained my vision, and to my horror, I realized I was standing over him with my sword pointed directly at him.

What? What happened? Why cant I remember anything...?

My head started spinning, and out of nowhere, I blacked out.
