Compassion

I'm not going to lie, I seriously struggled to find a good candidate for the Indigo Tribe because they are just so finnicky. The Indigo Tribe was founded by the Green Lantern Abin Surr, who arrived at the planet Nok to find it under the control of a team of explorers who had turned the planet into a slave trading base. Abin Surr allied himself with the leader of a rebel tribe, Natromo, and defeated the slavers by coating the rebels' weapons in indigo light, which caused those attacked by them to feel incredible guilt and remorse for their actions. After this, Abin Surr decided to harness the indigo light and create the Indigo Lantern Corps with Natromo after hearing of the Blackest Night Prophecy.

The tricky thing about the Indigo Lantern Corps is that there are multiple types of people who can join their ranks. The most obvious type is a person who imbibes great compassion, but the other and much more prominent type is a person who has little to no compassion at all. The Indigo Tribe's first member and current leader, Iroque, was actually a serial killer before Abin Surr gave her an Indigo Power Ring. The ring made her feel incredible remorse for her victims and changed her to instead want to help others rather than harm them.

I still don't believe I have found a perfect member for the Indigo Lantern Corps, but I do believe I have found one suitable enough for the Indigo Ring: Roman Torchwick.

Roman Torchwick is a con man and a criminal through and through. He has no respect for others, constantly belittles and chastises others, and makes it his key philosophy to lie, cheat and steal to survive. He began his criminal life as a child being a petty thief, constantly working his way up the criminal ladder until eventually overtaking it and becoming the most wanted man in the Kingdom of Vale. A man like that must have no compassion for anyone, right? Well, not quite. As we know, he took in Neopolitan and made her his partner in crime. She eventually even gifted him his iconic suit and hat we see him wear throughout the first three volumes of the show. The fact of the matter is that these two care greatly for each other. Roman is very protective of his clothing, telling the Atlesian Knights at the end of Volume 2 to "Watch the hat!", and Neo lives the rest of her life after the Fall of Beacon in Roman's name, hunting down whoever she believes to be responsible for his murder, mainly Ruby Rose.

While all of that may seem to point Roman away from the Indigo Tribe, it actually doesn't. While he may care deeply for Neo, that's still just one person. He couldn't care less about the rest of humanity or Faunus, constantly outplaying and harassing others and even letting out big, hearty laughs when he land big hits on Ruby in their fights. This is a man who takes pleasure in beating up a teenage girl for his own personal gain. No man like that has enough compassion in his heart to dissuade an indigo ring.
