Mully's POV:

I was in the changing room slipping on my number 29 Essendon jersey quietly talking to myself to prepare for the game. Today we would be playing Geelong at the MCG and I was hoping we would win. My teammate and also best friend walked up to me.

"Hey Mully, you know we have this, right?" My friend asked and I nodded my head as I looked up at him.

"But Gaege, you've seen how well they've played. They haven't lost a single game." I replied and he shrugged his shoulders before reassuringly smiling at me.

"We haven't either, just don't get distracted by that Josh player." He replied and I nodded my head even though I had butterflies in my stomach.

"The captain of Geelong? Nah, he won't distract me." I replied and Gaege raised an eyebrow as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"Mully, I know you have feelings for him. I do support you just don't let them get in the way of the game." Gaege said and I nodded my head.

"Alright. Now let's go huddle up with the team to talk strategies before the game." I replied as I walked out of the changing room and into the main room where the team were all training for the game. I clapped my hands loudly to gain everyone's attention.

"Alright boys, I want you all to be on your best, we cannot lose to Geelong today." I stated and everyone just stared at me not saying a word.

"Let's go kick some ass!" I yelled enthusiastically and everyone cheered as we rushed out through the tunnel and onto the oval. I breathed in a fresh breath of air and smiled as Gaege took his place beside me.

"Good luck Mully." Gaege said and I smiled at him before going to the center of the oval to flip a coin to determine who would be kicking to which side. I got to the center and Josh was already there. He smiled at me causing my face to heat up as the umpire walked over to us.

"Heads or tails?" The umpire asked Josh who answered straight away.

"Tails." Josh quickly replied and I smiled at him as the umpire flipped the coin in the air. It landed on tails, and I sighed as Josh picked what side his team would be kicking. We then went and took our positions in front of Geelong's goal.

Josh's POV:

Mully and I were standing in front of my team's goals waiting for the sirens to sound signaling that the game had started. He had his arms around my lower back and his hand was resting on my waist which is something the defender had to do to the forward before the game started.

"We're going to beat your team." He whispered and I rolled my eyes.

"You sound so confident. Just know that's my shoulder's always here to cry on when you lose." I replied and he looked at me and rolled his eyes.

"We won't lose." He stated annoyed as the siren sounded signaling the game had finally began. The umpire bounced the ball and both teams fought for the ball.

"You sure about that? I can easily distract you." I responded and his face turned a light shade of pink as he moved his arm away from me. He then walked away as the ball came towards us. I chased after him as he tried to get the ball. One of the players from my team tackled him and he quickly handballed the ball away before getting up again.

"Are you alright?" I asked as I walked over to him. He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders.

"I'm good. Let's just keep our head in the game." He replied and I nodded my head realizing that I had gotten distracted by him. We then continued to play the game my team and his team both scoring a few goals and points before the siren ending the first quarter. Mully walked off to somewhere and my best mate walked up to me.
