"Wow!" Dewpaw exclaimed. Jaywatcher smiled fondly. She remembered the first time she saw the territory for the first time.

"So, shall we look around?" Jaywatcher asked. "We have a lot of things to look at."

Dewpaw nodded eagerly. "Let's go!"

Jaywatcher flicked her tail as a sign that Dewpaw should follow before bounding into the trees.

Paws pattering, Jaywatcher stopped at the same hill Rowantail had taken her to when she first left camp.

Dewpaw stopped beside her, his eyes full of awe. "Woah! What's down there-?"

Jaywatcher instinctivly put her paw in Dewpaw's path. "Don't go down there." She instructed.

"Why?" Dewpaw pressed. "What's down there?"

"Things you don't want to see." Jaywatcher shuddered and flicked her ears.

"Like what? Oh, am I asking too many question?" Dewpaw fretted awkwardly.

"You're asking the right amount of questions." Jaywatcher purred. She remembered how awkward she'd been with Rowantail.

"My...my denmate. He went down there." She continued.

Dewpaw tilted his head. "Which cat?" He gasped. "Is that how Mistwind lost his eye?"

"No, no."

"Then who was it?" Dewpaw stopped and sat where he was, beckoning for Jaywatcher to explain.

Jaywatcher let out a silent sigh, sitting beside her apprentice.

"Tigerpaw. You weren't old enough to remember when this happened. But Tigerpaw went down there." Jaywatcher stopped herself from stuttering.

"Oh..." Dewpaw stared at his paws. "What happened to Tigerpaw?"

"He died. Got attacked. By the rats. He's gone." Jaywatcher stopped to collect her breath.

She felt Dewpaw's tail over her shoulder.

"I'm sorry." Dewpaw's mew was full of sympathy.

"It's alright. Let's go back to camp. I need a breather, and then we'll practice more tomorrow." Jaywatcher let out a shaky sigh.

Dewpaw stood, leading Jaywatcher back to camp. The warrior admired Dewpaw's sympathy.

Once the two got back to camp, Jaywatcher took a shaky step into camp. Wolfspirit was eating a toad by the fresh-kill pile.

Wolfspirit blinked at Jaywatcher, inviting her over with his tail. Jaywatcher smiled at her foster brother, trotting forwards.

"How's Dewpaw's training?" Wolfspirit asked, taking another bite of his toad.

Jaywatcher hooked a vole from the fresh-kill. It was still warm, so it had to have been caught early together.

"Meh." Jaywatcher shrugged. "He asked about Carrionplace." She muttered.

Wolfspirit's amber eyes widened. "Did you tell him? About Tigerpaw...?"

Jaywatcher nodded, suddenly almost losing her appetite for the vole. But her mouth still watered for the prey.

She dug her claws into the dead animal, biting at it sadly.

Wolfspirit's dark gray tail covered Jaywatcher's shoulders.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that." He murmured.

Jaywatcher smiled at him. "It's alright. I need to get over it anyways."
