"What was will saying? Like home... like home... but dark?" Mike said, standing up to walk around
"And empty" lucas added, sat trying to think of what will meant.
"Empty and cold. Wait, did he say cold?" Dustin asked, sat on the stairs
"Yeah he did say cold" y/n butted in
"Its so confusing, the stupid radio kept going in and out" lucas sighed
"Its like riddles in the dark" dustin said, tilted his head up
"Like home. Like his house" mike repeated
"Or maybe like hawkins" lucas exclaimed.
"Its the upside down" y/n told them.
"What'd he say?" Lucas asked confused, y/n rolled his eyes
"Upside down." Mike said
"What?" Then lucas
"Upside down!" Mike repeated again
"When el showed us where Will was, she flipped the board over, remember? Upside down. Dark, empty" mike explained, mike sat down infron on the dnd board, lucas and dustin sitting down aswell, y/n leaning over them.
"Do you understand what he's talking about?" Lucas asked
"No" dustin replied
"Yeah" y/n nodded, mike continued
"Guys, come on, think about it. When el took us to find will, she took us to his house, right?" Mike said, trying to explain to the 2 other boys
"Yeah. And he wasn't there." Lucas declared
"But what if he was there?" mike begun. Y/n hit his hand on the table. When he slept in the basement he read some dnd textbooks.
"What if we just couldn't see him? What if he was on the other side?" Mike exclaimed. Y/n picked up a book and found a page
"What if this is hawkins and... this is where Will is? The upside down" mike explained, flipping the board
"Like the vale of shadows" dustin declared
"Yes! Exactly, The Vale of Shadows is a dimension that is a dark reflection or echo of our world. It is a place of decay and death. A plane out of phase. A place of monsters. Here!." Y/n quoted from when he read it, finding the page and throwing the book down in front of dustin
"It is right next to you and you dont even see it." Dustin finshed.
"An Alternative dimension." Mike then said.
"But... how... how do we get there?" Lucas asked
"You cast shadow walk" y/n said
"In real life, dummy" lucas replied.
"We can't shadow walk, but... maybe she can." Dustin said, the group all look to el. Y/n couldn't tell them he had powers. Its too dangerous
"Do you know how to get there? To the upside down?" Mike asked el. She shook her head. Lies.
"Oh, my god" lucas huffed.

Mike and his family were getting ready to wills funeral. Y/n wanted to but he knew he couldn't.

Mike stabbed the pencil through the paper
"It would take slot of energy to build a gate like this. But thats got to be what happened. Otherwise, how'd will get there, right?" Mike explained.
"Yeah obviously" y/n answered, leaning back

"What we want to know is, do you know where the gate is?" Lucas asked. Both of them shook their heads.
"Then how do you know about the upside down?" Lucas questioned, confused. Neither of them answered, they all looked over st dustin who was looking at a magnet, going in circles around with it in his hand.
"Dustin, what are you doing? Dustin?" Mike asked him
"Dustin!" Lucas exclaimed
"I... i need to see your compasses." Dustin told them
"What?" Mike shot
"Your compasses. All of your compasses, right now!" Dustin yelled.

They all put the compasses on the table.
"Whats exciting about this?" Mike asked
"Well they're all facing north, right?" Dustin started
"Yeah, so?" Lucas asked confused
"well, thats not true north" dustin said. Y/ns eyes widened as he realised.
"What do you mean?" Mike asked
"I mean exactly what i just said. Thats not true north. Are you all seriously this dense?" Dustin asked them
"The... the sun rises in the east! And it sets in the west!" Y/n exclaimed
"Meaning that's true north" both of them said in unison pointing north.
"So what your saying is the compasses are broken." Mike told them
"Do you understand how a compass works? Do you see a battery pack on this?" Dustin asked, showing mike the compass
"No."
"No, you don't. Because it doesn't need one." Dustin starts
"The needle is drawn to the Earths magnetic North pole." Y/n added
"So whats wrong with them?" Lucas questioned
"Well, thats what I couldn't figure out, but then I remembered. You can change the direction of a compass with a magnet. If there's the presence of a more powerful magnetic field, the needle deflects to that power. And then I remembered what mr. Clarke said. The gate would have so mich power-" dustin explained
"It could disrupt the electromagnetic field." Mike says, understanding what dustin and y/n were saying
"Exactly" dustin nodded
"Meaning, if we follow the compasses' north..." lucas started, also understanding
"They should lead us to the gate" dustin said. Y/ns eyes widen. Shit. They cant go. He looks at el and she had the same look.

Y/n walked in the middle, hearing lucas and dustin bickering. Lucas turned around and looked straight behind y/n and to el. Starting to talk about her, y/n heard el wanting to turn back, y/n started his powers and started controlling the magnets himself.

"Oh no" dustin said
"'Oh no' Whats 'oh no?'" Lucas asked
"We're headed back home" dustin explained
"What?" Mike says
"Are you sure?" Lucas asked
"Yeah, im sure. Setting sun, right there. We looped right back around" dustin tells them.
"And you're just realising this now?" Lucas asked him, pissed
"Why is this all on me?" Dustin exclaimed
"Because your the compass genius!" Lucas yelled
"What do yours say?" Dustin asked, pointing to the compass
"North" both boys said
"Makes no damn sense" dustin sighed
"Maybe the gate moved?" Mike declared
"No, i dont think its the gate. I think its something else screwing with the compasses" dustin explained
"Maybe its something here?" Mike interjected
"No, it has to be like a super magnet" dustin says
"Its not a magnet. Shes been acting weirder than normal. If she can slam doors with her mind she can definitely screw up compasses." Lucas declared. Y/n stood in front of el
"Why would she do that?" Mike asked
"Because shes trying to sabotage our mission. Because she's a traitor!" Lucas yelled. Walking closer to el. Y/n shielded her.
"Lucas, what are you doing?" Mike asked, walking over aswell
"You did it, didn't you? You dont want us to reach the gate. You dont want us to find will." Lucas said to el.
"Lucas, come on, seriously just leave her alone" mike exclaimed
"Admit it!"

"Admit it!" He yelled grabbing her sleeve, being pushed back a tad, but still continuing
"Fresh blood. I knew it." Lucas said
"Lucas, come on! I saw her wiping her nose on the tracks! She was using her powers!" Lucas explained, looking to mike
"Bull! Thats old blood. Right, el? Right, el?" Mike asked, hoping for the girl to respond with anything but no.
"Its... not... its not safe." She cried. The two boys, they looked confused.

"What did i tell you? They'vebeen playing us from the beginning!" Lucas yelled
"Thats not true. They helped us find will!" Mike declared
"Find will? Where is he then? Huh? I don't see him." Lucas replied, looking around acting like hes trying to see will
"You know what I mean" mike rolls his eyes
"No, I actually dont. Just think about it, Mike. Either of them could've told us where the upside down was right away, but they didn't. She just made us run around like headless chickens." Lucas argued, getting up in mikes face
"Alright, calm down!" Dustin told the pair, splitting them up
"No! They used us, all of us! Eleven helped just enough so she could get what she wants. Food and a bed, shes like a stray dog!" Lucas yelled
"Screw you lucas!" Mike shouted back
"No! Screw you, Miki. You're blind... blind because you like that a girl's not grossed out by you. But wake up, man! Wake the hell up! They know where will is, and now they're letting him die in the upside down." Lucas yelled in mikes face
"Shut up!" Mike yelled back
"For all we know, its their fault"
"Shut up!"
"We're looking for some stupid monster... but did you ever stop to think that maybe they're the monsters?" Lucas exclaimed pushing mike
"I said shut up!" Mike yelled, jumping onto him, they rolled on the floor , not punching or kicking just pinning each other down.
"Stop!" Y/n yelled to the two of them
"Knock it off, you idiots." Dustin shouted, as the two on the floor tried to push the other down

"Mike, get off!" Then dustin
"Stop!" Then y/n
"Stop it!" Then el. El screamed and lucas went flying into a stone. Dustin and mike quickly ran over to the passed out boy
"Lucas! Lucas! Lucas, are you all right? Lucas!" Mike exclaimed
"Lucas, come on!" Dustin yelled to lucas.
"Lucas, wake up! Lucas" mike said again
"Come on, lucas!" Dustin begged again.
"Why would you do that?" Mike yelled at el
"You were fighting!" Y/n started
"Whats wrong with you? What is wrong with you?" Mike yelled again. El stood crying as the boys begged for lucas to wake up. Y/n hugged her and teleported then somewhere else.
