Grian woke up screaming, this wasn't the first time this week. And it was only Wednesday! The parrot sat up and recalled the nightmare. He had been alone in the void, just floating unable to move even a finger, then one of them had appeared before him.
He despised them of all his heart.

"Come home Xelqua" it said to him, and he tried to say no but his voice didn't mutter a word, he couldn't. "Come home, or it won't just be you getting hurt, they will too, and you will be at fault" it said and made small copies of the hermits appear before him.
Then he just screamed and that woke him up.

He looked around the room, sweating, it was just a nightmare, right? They couldn't be here for real. His heart stopped as he saw it, or it felt like it at least. In the far back of the base was the symbol.

The symbol that had haunted him ever since he fled the End-Realm. It was the evo symbol, the broken nether portal made out of cobble, where the corners were separated and cut off, it looked a little like two L's and two squares.

He took in a big shaky breath, only now realizing that he hadn't been breathing since he saw it.

He shed a tear coming to the only possible solution he could think of, he had to leave Hermitcraft, he had to return to Them.

To the Watchers. He stretched out his palm and lit the portal of fire and entered it, not even saying goodbye to his friends.

He closed his eyes as he entered the portal, when he opened them again and looked behind him there were no trace of a portal, and he knew it was gone on the other side. Before he could even take a step, a Watcher appeared before him.

"Welcome home Xelqua" it said and gave him a white mask with the same symbol on it. This wasn't his home, but he couldn't say that, or he'd be punished and that was something the watcher would go to great lengths to avoid.

He accepted the mask with a heavy heart, and took it on, the first half a second it felt as if nothing had changed, then it felt like magic was flowing through his veins, it flowed from his head were the mask was and to the bottom of his feet and his finger tips, it felt warm and ticklish, it spread throughout his parrot-wings, turning them a dark purple as it pulsated through him, making the wings bigger as well, his skin turned obsidian black with purpur eyes sprawled out all over it and his hair turned white as quartz.

A purple halo glimpsed into vision over his head. Not only did his body mutate, but his clothes also changed as well. His usual red jumper disappeared and a grape-colored tunica appeared, with a brown belt tying it in at the waist.

A deep violet robe with a trim of gold equipped with a hood draped his shoulders and holes made it possible for his wings to stay out.

"Very well Xelqua, now let's continue your training to the Master test, and one day you might get an apprentice to train" the other watcher, by the name Xena said.

Grian did his best at training, he didn't want to, but he remembered the torture they put him through when he disobeyed them last time, he was just happy that wasn't the case now that he'd fled them.

Being a quick learner, the builder quickly rose the ranks, even though he didn't want to admit it, he had missed his magic, not being able to use it had felt like a part of him was missing and he had actually learned a lot of useful matter in his education.

First off had he learned how to use magic without proper spells, just letting your subconsciousness deal with it, using it as part of your body, not thinking twice before making weapons, projectiles, shields.
His flying had also improved, he had gotten useful tips to turn better in the air, and while he wasn't the best Watcher in magic, he was the best at flying by a long shot.

It didn't take Grian a long time to catch up on everything as he had learnt a lot before fleeing the Realm, so not even two weeks after returning he had already passed the Master test and was ready for the ceremony.

The Watcher was nervous of course, he was going to receive a Master Crown, even though he despised the Watchers he couldn't help but being excited, he was the youngest ever after all, that was what people whispered in the corners anyway.

He stopped a bit before the alter, he had witnessed the ritual countless of time, he had sworn to himself never to be the one at the alter but here he was.

He took a deep breath before taking the last steps to the alter and put his hand out, palm facing upwards.

The Prime Watcher walked out and stood in front of the smaller hermit. It took out a dagger and lowered it until it just barely touched the hand of the builder who clenched his other fist and bit his lower lip. In two quick motions the Prime carved out an eye on the palm and Xelqua bit back a scream.

The cuts turned a glowing purple and the pain felt sharp but suddenly it dulled down and became only an itch, the mark was now a dull purple and had stopped glowing.

The Prime-Watcher took out a tiara-looking crown and put it on the hermits head. The magic running through his veins hit him like a tidal wave, it felt as if it was fire that was spreading throughout his body, he fell down to the floor, feeling as if he was going to faint any second, he fell in and out of consciousness for a few second before feeling alright again.

He opened his eyes and stood up again, he felt more free, more powerful, the Master Watcher felt as if all of his senses had been heightened, every small movement, every small sound he registered.

"Congratulations with your master rank Xelqua, you'll be getting an apprentice in no time" the Prime-Watcher grinned and left the alter along with the crowd.

Xelqua stayed behind and looked at the red blood drops in the alter.

What had he done? He didn't want to be a Watcher and definitely not put anyone else through the same things he had been through.

Maybe this was all a mistake.
