The word (Uluhiyya) "ألوهية" is taken from the name "الإله" ( Al Ilah). "الإله" ( Al Ilah) is one of the many names of Allah (may He be glorified). It means "Worshipped One". Thus, "الألوهية" (Al Uluhiyyah) means "Worship". "Tawheed Al Uluhiyyah" (توحيد الألوهية) is to dedicate all forms of worship to Allah alone. It is to worship Allah alone ascribing no partners to him. Allah says in Quran:

[2:163]

وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

"Your God is ˹only˺ One God. There is no God ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him-the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful."

As for one who has accepted Allah as the only Lord (Rabb), it is obligatory upon him to accept Allah as the only ''Worshipped Being" (Ilah). The Lordship of Allah is enough evidence for Allah's right of being worshipped alone with no partners associated with Him. It is very clear to human understanding that, one should worship his Creator, Sustainer, Master; one should ask for protection to the One who protects; one should ask for guidance to the One who grants guidance ; one should ask for benefit to the One who can benefit and so on. Thus, the establishment of the Lordship of Allah marks the establishment of His right of being worshipped alone.

This catagory of Tawheed was the common messege of all the Prophets and Messengers (All catagories of Tawheed were presented to the people by the Prophets and Messengers meaning Tawheed as a whole was the common messege but they put a lot of effort in cases of Tawheed Al Uluhiyyah). Allah say:

[21:25]

"Never did We send any Messenger before you to whom We did not reveal: There is no God but Me. So serve Me alone."

Not only this type of Tawheed was the common messege of the Prophets (عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام) but also they all started their Daw'ah with this type of Tawheed. Verily, establishing Tawheed Al Uluhiyyah is the reason behind our creation and the purpose of human life. Allah Says:

[51:56]

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

"I created the jinn and humans for nothing else but that they may serve Me."

To understand Tawheed Al Uluhiyyah (توحيد الألوهية) deeply, we need to explore what is 'Ibaadah (عبادة) from the Quran, Sunnah and linguistic point of view. Learning about worship will indeed assist our knowledge in "Allah's right of being worshipped alone".
