"It's time."
I was taken to the limo, having my dress be adjusted while I entered. Once I was in the vehicle, I reclined against the seat and stared out the window. When the limo started to move, I simply looked out the window, watching everything pass me by.
When I arrived at the church, I remained seated, closing my eyes momentarily. The sound of the door suddenly opening made me open my eyes. Father stood there and held his hand out to me. I took hold of his hand and he helped me out of the vehicle.
As soon as I stepped out and my dress was being adjusted again, Father stood beside me and bent his elbow. I took hold of the crook of his elbow and faced forward.
"Say the word and I'll get you out of this," he said softly.
I gazed at the church, then answered back,
"It's too late."
I was promptly handed my bouquet, then Father and I were signaled to go toward the small path that leads to the church gate. As we did, I could see hundreds of flashes coming from all directions.
This is a day I'm supposed to be smiling, nervous, and excited...
...but all I feel is emptiness...
When the gates finally opened, we entered the church. I could hear the music begin to play as Father and I slowly walked down the aisle...
If there is anyone present who feels these 2 individuals should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace..."
I sighed and said, "No one is going to do such a thing Father. Please continue with the—"
