Chapter 6: Winter Troubles

Hours Later...

I slowly woke, felt extremely stiff. I groaned as I tried to sit up. What time is it? What happened?

I got up and immediately felt the throbbing pain in my head. I rubbed my temples as I tried getting up from the floor. I looked down and saw the empty bottle of wine. I picked it up and tossed it in the trash can, then stumbled into the bathroom. I need to wake up.

I went up to the sink to splash cold water on my face. Before I did, I took a good look at myself in the mirror. My eyes were very puffy, irritated, and dry. I cried myself to sleep...

I washed my face, undressed, and entered the shower. Time later, I got out, went back to my bedroom and looked at my clock. 5:50am! I'm going to be late!

Before I could scramble to get ready, I heard my phone go off. I looked around my room, then spotted it under my bed where I had slept. I picked it up and saw the message on the screen.

Sofia (Assistant):
"Thank you so much ma'am! I just informed all of the employees. Happy holidays!!"

What is she talking about? I opened the message and read the text prior. My eyes widened at what I'd sent her. Unbelievable. I can't undo it either. Especially since I threatened my team before.

I huffed and set my phone down on the nightstand. I sat down on my bed and wondered what I was going to do. I'm expecting some proposals from new partners and have even started trying to create a special event to not only advertise my business, but to fulfill some goals I have in mind...

As I kept thinking about my workload and ideas, from the back of my mind, I suddenly remembered a name...

Eren.

As soon as I remembered it, I began to recall the encounter. I never saw him again. I'm surprised I even remember him after all this time. I wonder...

Y/N's body moved on its own. She went up to her closet and took out an outfit warm enough for the cold weather. Once she was ready, she grabbed her phone and keys, then went downstairs. She took out a pair of boots from her closet by the door, put them on, then left her home.

As soon as she got outside, Y/N got into her car, she turned it on,  turned on the GPS in her vehicle, then shifted into reverse and pulled out of her parking spot. When she was on the main road, she gazed at the screen quickly, making sure she was going in the correct direction.

Her destination: the recreational park.

Before I knew it, I pulled up into and parked in the same parking space from before.

Then, the realization hit me.

I feel like such a creep for coming back to the place where I met him. How would I even know if he'd be here or not? Ugh. I stared out of my windshield for a few moments, then realized something else. I haven't seen a single person outside today. Is it because it's still early? But even then, there's a lot of people who work early morning shifts, including myself. It's so desolate.

I got out of my car and adjusted my jacket and hat. It's pretty cold this morning.

I went onto and walked down the asphalt path, feeling strange with every step. Halfway through, I saw a few snowflakes fall from the sky. I reached out and touched a few, watching them melt as soon as they landed on my warm hand.

Then I noticed something...the snow was coming down in larger clumps and at a faster pace.

I took out my cellphone to check how many inches of snow was expected to fall today. As soon as I turned it on, I got an emergency weather alert.
