Shadow and Silver were traveling down the farmer's market one day. They both had little to no understanding of how the world worked. After all, Shadow lived in space decades ago and Silver is from an apocalyptic future. Oftentimes, they had to discover the current world on their own. Today, they just so happened to find this weird place filled with people selling fruits, vegetables, baked goods; anything you can think of.

"Okay, so this has to be the reason why the streets were closed when we were coming here! That traffic was so bad!"
Silver giggled happily, spinning in the air with his flight.

"Silver, we didn't drive here. We walked!- Well, you floated. I had to walk and keep a hold of your leg like a balloon."
Shadow explained. Silver purred while rolling his eyes playfully.

"Well, this balloon is lucky to have such a handsome holder to hold onto his- Are those apples!? Shadow, Shadow!!"
He shook around the hedgehog next to him with pure joy.
"They have apples! Can we get some?? Please? PLEASE!"
He begged like a puppy. Shadow stared up at his partner with his usual half-lidded stare. He could have sworn he heard whimpers coming from Silver's quivering mouth.

He shrugged.
"Sure."
He walked to the stand. Silver purred and flew to the stand. Shadow bought him a fresh apple and some for when they got home.
"Now, Silver, please don't eat these all in one day. The last time that you did that, you made your stomach hurt and I had to stay up listening to you whine all night."
"Yeah, yeah!"
The white hedgehog giggled as he bit into the apple.

Shadow couldn't help but feel that he was out of place. He wasn't used to so many people being on the street just to buy stuff.
"This must be one of the human things Gerald warned me of. It's like a giant festival but at the end, you can expect some people to go missing because they want to sacrifice a few mortal souls to the President of the United States...Or he may have just been saying that to make me despise the government.."
He mumbled that last part. Silver stared at Shadow with contentment as he slid his hand into the bag with apples.

"That may be true! Why would he lie to you? He was so smart! And from what I've learned from you, smart people could never lie!"
He beamed. Shadow shrugged gently and flicked his ears at the sound of Silver biting into an apple.

They continued walking around the city for the rest of the day. When they got home, Shadow locked the door and placed the bag on the counter.
"I hate it when I go out in public and the public is there."
He mumbled softly. Shadow dug his gloved hand into the bag of apples only to find that there was only one left. Before he could say anything, he heard a low groan come from Silver.

"Silver! What have I told you about eating the whole bag all in one day!?"
He snarled. The snow-colored hedgehog whined as he crouched down in pain.
"B-but I left one in the bag!"
"That's not what I meant! I didn't meant- Whatever. Let's get you to bed so that you can sleep off the pain."
He sighed.

Shadow got Silver into bed and gave him some Tylenol. He decided to join him in bed.
"This wouldn't have happened if you hadn't eaten those apples so quickly."
He stated. Silver sighed as he rolled on top of Shadow and laid his head on his chest. He let out a whine and furrowed his eyes.
"Oh, don't give me that look, young man. I gave you plenty of warnings."
Shadow stated. Silver looked down at the two scars on Shadow's chest. He hummed with contentment as he rubbed them with his now ungloved hands. Silver slept naked but Shadow preferred having his socks on at night.

"Uhm.."
He blushed gently. Shadow wanted to say something but he noticed that tracing his scars helped Silver distract himself from the pain. So it was acceptable this one time he supposed.
"You strange hedgehog.."
He mumbled. Silver continued playing with the scars peacefully for a while. It was only when Shadow felt his body temperature raising that he grew concerned.
