"Sonic's gone."
"He's probably dead by now."
"There's no way somebody is going to survive being with him."
"He was captured and we'll probably never see him again.."

Those damn words were all that Shadow ever heard coming from The Resistance Army. Honestly, Shadow saw everyone's attitude as weak and pathetic. That's a lot coming from the man that never smiles.

Six months ago, Sonic the Hedgehog was captured by none other than Infinite the Jackal. There have been many rescue attempts made, though all were in vain. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Shadow was able to observe how the hope to save Sonic slowly died out in everyone's eyes. Everyone was forced to move on and continue fighting in the senseless war...Everyone but Shadow.

Despite the fact he'd hope Sonic was actually dead and he totally didn't have a giant crush on Sonic, Shadow was almost as stubborn as the Blue Hedgehog himself. And knowing that, Shadow knew that Sonic was far too stubborn to let himself die.

"Shadow, you can't possibly be serious about wanting to save Sonic. He's long gone and you're only going to get yourself killed!"
Rouge argued with her best friend. Shadow confided his plans to Rouge. Clearly...That was a mistake. She didn't want Shadow to go into battle; To potentially lose yet another friend.

"Rouge, I know he's somewhere in there; Alive. How can you believe that Sonic the Hedgehog- As annoying as that idiot is- is dead? There's simply no way!"
The hedgehog growled back. He understood where Rouge was coming from, But he chose to ignore the warning signs plastered all around him.

"This is Infinite we're talking about. He can manipulate reality into his bidding. Even if Sonic was alive, dear, he wouldn't be the same Sonic that we know!"
The bat sighed sadly.
"Your negativity is a sign of weakness and failure. Sonic is alive. I know he is. I have made up my mind. I am going to go rescue him...By myself."
He huffed angrily.
"Shadow..."
"There's nothing you can do to stop me! Thank you. Goodbye...I hope to see you later."
Shadow looked away before teleporting out of the base.

Shadow landed somewhere rather dark. He could only see what the moon lit up for him. Luckily, the Eggman lair has a lowly glowing symbol at the entrance. He thought for a moment...It wasn't going to be a smart idea to simply enter; He had to sneak in. Unfortunately, there was a giant chaos energy blocker that surrounded the lair. There was no teleporting in and no teleporting out. Along with that, there were also no chaos abilities that could be used inside. So far...Everything seemed to be working against Shadow. But he was used to that.

He looked around for a bit and found an air vent he could sneak into. Thankfully he was a very thin guy so it shouldn't be an issue.
"Just like how Sonic taught you..."
He took a step back. Shadow grunted quietly as he kicked the air vent covering, ultimately busting it up. He sighed in relief that he didn't trigger any alarms.

Inside the vent was decently clean with an average amount of dust. At least Eggman took care of his home...
Shadow got a good idea of how the lair was mapped out. Something that caught his eye, though, was the sound of talking. Upon further exploring, Shadow found that it was none other than Infinite The Jackal.

"That bastard.."
Shadow whispered to himself. He opened the vent and stuck his head through to look at the room. There was no Sonic but there was a screen Infinite was examining.
"Plans for future attacks..."
He squinted his eyes at the screen. Shadow's ears flicked with the sounds of the keyboard typing by Infinite. His long claws didn't help his loud typing.
