"Zane here?" Duncan asked as he entered Zane's house as his parents and eldest brother had left for work hours ago. "In his room," Zane's older brother said from the kitchen. "Okay," Duncan hummed and made his way down the short hall to the first door, Zane's room.
He heard the soft sound of music and Zane talking to himself in an accent and things moving around. Opening the door he saw Zane sitting on the edge of his bed with a trashbag in hand digging through a small pile of junk on the floor. "Whatcha doing?" Duncan asked leaning on the door frame.
"Cleaning my room," Zane replied. "Why?" Duncan asked. Zane simply shrugged as he finished cleaning the trash up. "Gotta do the worst part now," Zane sighed tossing the bag in the hall and walking to get the vacuum. "Fucking hate this thing," he said picking it up.
"Loud?" Duncan said and Zane nodded.
After he finished cleaning he took the trash bag out to the bin and came back in the house with a sigh. "Begone depression mess," he mumbled. He heard a soft thump and looked over to the guinea pig cage in the living room and remembered he needed to clean that too. "Fucking hell," he sighed.
"Hm?" Duncan hummed rubbing his back comfortingly. "More cleaning," he huffed as he grabbed another thrash bag and set up the temporary play cage and put the guinea pig inside with its bowl and water as he began cleaning.
"What's with the cleaning anyway?" Zane's brother asked. "Dunno, just wanna," Zane responded. "Ya'know, mom buys all these pets yet she doesn't take care of them," Zane complained.
"Sure she feeds them on occasion but I clean the cage and litter boxes, I tell her when they need food," He ranted. "All our childhood we were told no pets, we're not responsible enough but she's about as responsible as a toddler with these pets," Zane huffed as he tossed the reusable cage mats in the wash and grabbed the clean ones.
"For fucks sake I buy more things for HER guinea pig than she does," Zane said setting the small animal back inside the gage to run about. "I bought the cage liners, treats, food, hell I grew wheatgrass so he could have fresh food since she rarely goes to the store to buy veggies and fruit for him," he huffed angrily and Duncan rubbed his shoulders to calm him.
"I know you're upset but you gotta relax or you're gonna be grumpy all day," Duncan soothed. "I'll be grumpy if I wanna," Zane pouted.
~Time Skip~
"So do we want Chinese or wings?" Duncan asked his partner as he scrolled through the delivery app looking at food for lunch. "Wings, from BWW cause Wingstop sucks," Zane replied. "No it doesn't," Duncan countered. "It does though, they always fuck up my food and do you know how hard it is finding sauce for wings with no tomato products in it? Wingstop makes it hard to find the correct ingredient lists," Zane rambled.
"And BWW is any better?" Duncan laughed. "They got Terryaki which has no tomato in it, and fried pickles," Zane said.
"Fair enough my grumpy little prince," Duncan teased. "I will bite you," Zane grumbled.
"Kinky," Duncan smirked.
(My mental health has improved and I've been taking better care of myself since I've started cleaning and organizing things and cooking for myself. The pet thing in the short is mostly my frustrations with how my mom handles her pets, she has 2 cats and a guinea pig and the guinea pig is basically mine now since she's not responsible enough. We used to have another but I've mentioned before he passed away last October in 2022 and the remaining one is doing alright since he was never really social but has the cats and us always around him to keep him from being depressed. Espurr is my cat and I don't allow her to decide how to handle him since she doesn't take care of Cream and Jimmy as well as my dad and I do.)
(Also been enjoying shopping from small businesses like Royalty Soaps which makes wonderful bath products and has a scent-free soap for sensitive skin. I also love Unicorn Eclipse for notepads, sticky notes, and washi tape. I also follow so many lovely small businesses on Instagram cause supporting people is the least I could do.)

Simplicity is the line that has the fragrance-free bar of soap but they also have very lovely smelling soaps. So if you're like me and your skin doesn't hand fragrance well this is perfect. Even the scented bars are gentle as they are actually cleaning compared to my usual liquid hand soaps. Also, their youtube channel of them making soaps are so relaxing.
