One month later

Abrariel

"I'm glad you're feeling better. Willing to go home?" Raziel asked at the end of the month.

"Yeah, if I can walk," Abrariel answered sitting up in bed, he was feeling much better, no more fever, no more pounding headache, and no more belly sickness... Well, apart from what the baby was causing.

"You can walk, you did yesterday," Raziel murmured helping him out of bed.

Abrariel was a little unsteady at first, but quickly found his footing. He took his now-clean clothes off the hook on the wall and went to the bathroom to get changed and use the toilet.

When he came back out, dressed in his white hoodie and blue jeans, Raziel was thanking the Nurse Angels. Abrariel was still shocked to know that they were a breed of Angel, apparently, only Nurse Angels could tend to the sick, properly anyway. Abrariel headed over to stand next to Raziel.

"... Thank you, I really can't thank you enough," Raziel was saying with a light bow to the nurses.

"Don't mention it, it's what we do," one of the Angels answered with a smile, returning the bow.

Raziel smiled and led Abrariel out of the hospital room, Abrariel turned and waved to the Angels who had healed him. They had become friends over the past month Abrariel was there.

A month of friendship, sure to last a lifetime, he thought as the door closed behind him.

The stars were bright pinpoints in the black night sky, making the cottages of the town stand out, but also blend in beautifully. Flowers waved in the wind, and the occasional Soul or Angel roamed around. The cobble paths were clean and smooth. Abrariel loved it.

A wave of sudden nausea washed over him making him stop and groan, wrapping his arms around his belly, willing himself not to throw up.

Raziel turned to him when he noticed that Abrariel wasn't following. "Is something wrong?" He asked, letting his wings go limp behind him.

"I think I'm going to be sick..."

Raziel rushed to him, suddenly panicked. "You can't be sick here!"

"I don't think I can help it..." Abrariel moaned placing a hand over his mouth.

Raziel looked around. "Let's see if we can use someone's bathroom," he murmured leading Abrariel to the front door of one of the white wood houses.

Raziel knocked on the brown door as another wave of nausea washed over Abrariel, making the impulse to throw up stronger. The door opened to reveal an Angel Soul in the entrance, a small child Angel with blonde hair was behind him.

"Hi! Can we use your bathroom quickly? It's an emergency," Raziel asked politely with a smile, the Soul nodded.

"Yes, of course!" The Soul stepped aside, "first door to your left in the hallway."

Abrariel wasted no time in getting to the bathroom, he rushed down the carpeted hallway and threw open the bathroom door and made it to the toilet just in time.

When he finished, he went back to the toy-covered living room where Raziel was waiting, talking to the Soul and a very tired-looking Angel who was now holding the squirming toddler. They looked like they needed help, a break from the kid for a bit.

"Would you like me to babysit your child one night?" Abrariel asked making everyone look up, shocked.

"Abrariel..." Raziel started, looking embarrassed.

"Would you really?" The Angel asked, looking at him with wide eyes.

Abrariel nodded.

"Oh, thank you so much!" The Soul exclaimed forcing Abrariel in for a hug. Abrariel had heard that Souls were as cold as ice, he was glad he couldn't feel it.

"Why one night?" The Angel asked jiggling the toddler to entertain her.

"I... I'm a Vampire, I can't go out during the day... But don't worry, I won't hurt your child, I love kids!" Abrariel added at the pair's shocked expressions.

"Alright. You seem like a nice kid; we will give you a shot. We can pay you three Gold an hour," the Soul murmured, glancing at his mate.

Abrariel nodded. "Deal!" He held out his hand, and both parents shook it, seeming shocked that he hadn't asked for more. In truth, Abrariel didn't want to be paid, he just wanted to help, he could tell the couple sensed that and they smiled at him.

"Do you think you can do tomorrow?" The Angel asked as the child tugged his long hair.

"Sure!" Abrariel nodded, smiling.

The Soul gave him another hug. "Thank you," he murmured.

"You did a good thing back there, you know," Raziel murmured as they walked down the dirt road that led towards home.

They had to set out times and know names. It had taken longer than Abrariel had expected, but he was glad he was able to help.

"I just wanted to help," Abrariel replied simply, shoving his hands in his pockets

"And that's what's important," Raziel murmured, clapping him gently on the back, "you will make a great father."

Abrariel looked at him, at the kind honey-coloured face. "You think so?" He asked.

Raziel nodded, smiling. "Yes, yes I do."

When they arrived home, Abrariel went to get something to eat before heading to bed as dawn broke. He had said hello to Jorden who had greeted his return with a tight, but gentle embrace before he kissed Raziel on the cheek as he left.

Abrariel snuggled under the covers of his bed and closed his eyes, a smile fixed on his face, he was finally making steps in his pledge of loyalty and helpfulness and that made him happy. He thought of Telantes, he would try to get along with him and start over. The Demon had only jumped him... And hurt Raziel's feelings, but Abrariel was willing to give him a second chance.

It was in his heart to be good, and give people a chance... Jeremiah had taught him that, and he wasn't about to let his Sire down now.
