The darkness was like a fog that clouded Willow's mind and once it cleared, she was standing at the edge of a lake that was on the backside of her grandfather's property. Willow knew that the scene before her couldn't be real, she lost her grandfather shortly after her parents died. Her eyes took in the scene before she spotted it. Her weeping willow tree.
"Willow?" Her head snapped to watch her own mother pass by her. Charlotte looked exactly as Willow's six-year-old mind remembered. She wore a simple white dress with sleeves that went down to her elbows and her feet were bare in the freshly cut grass. Her chocolate brown hair was down past her shoulders in big loose curls and her eyes were a lighter color of brown that almost had a slight tint of gold in the edges.
"Mom?" Her mother walked past Willow and headed straight for the weeping willow tree. The redhead followed behind and watched as the leaves of the tree gracefully danced on top of the water. Her mother stopped at the base of the tree before she turned to look at Willow, finally acknowledging that she was there.
"When you were a kid, I could never get you to stay on the ground." Charlotte smiled as she spoke, her eyes turning back to the willow tree.
"Dad used to say that I learned to climb before I learned to walk." Willow's voice was shaky because the whole thing seemed real.
"An eye for an eye..." Charlotte's words took a turn, but her tone was still light and happy. Willow watched in confusion as her mother stepped into the lake, the water consuming her slowly.
"What are you doing?" Willow cried with concern as her mother disappeared in the clear water of the lake. Willow quickly dropped to her knees and searched the water for any sign of her mother. In a flash, what Willow thought to be her mother resurfaced with a jump and tackled Willow back against the ground.
When her eyes refocused, she saw blood red eyes staring down at her and felt an ice cold hand wrapped around her throat. Victoria had her pinned to the ground with water pouring off of her and her own red hair stuck to her skin.
"And a tooth for a tooth." Victoria hissed her words as Willow struggled underneath her, the grip on her throat cutting off her air supply. Willow clawed at her attacker knowing that it would make no difference. "I'm going to rip you apart. Piece by piece and leave you for Jasper to find. Then I'll rip him to pieces." Victoria laughed as she spoke, her eyes lighting up with joy.
"No." Willow managed to choke out as Victoria loosened her grip just enough to shift her position. The red headed vampire leaned closer until her lips were just a few inches away from Willow's ear.
"A mate for a mate." Victoria whispered the words in a sultry tone before she quickly moved to drive her teeth into Willow's neck causing her to scream and thrash.
With a scream Willow sat straight up her eyes snapping open and her arms thrashed around as if she was still fighting. Willow was in full on panic, her heart racing as the images of Victoria ripping out her throat played on repeat.
