As the lily white daffodils fell at my feet
I watched as you became one with the earth
Every chakra broke open
Revealing your inner torment
Your body crimpled in my hands
And went from hot and heavy
To cold and vibrating
I watched your last breath pale the frosty air
Your hair was to become flours
Your feet to become worm food
You skeleton provided nutrients
All this for mother earth
You left me the most important thing to you
Something no one else could have or hold
For richer or poorer, I owned your heart
And you mine
Even when your body left this planetary orbit
And you had turned to rust
Your beauty still remained in flowers and trees
And I would always remain your sweet pea
I only wish, how I wish, you stayed with me

Background Story:
Basically about a guy whose partner dies and he's left pining after them. I really wanted to go back into a sadder side of love. I feel like this is similar to my last poem. No rhyming but it doesn't need to rhyme to be poetry. I'm enjoying exploring different ways of writing poetry. Hopefully the lack of rhyming lately hasn't disappointed anyone.
The song was chosen because it matched the feelings in this poem.
Hope none of you leave your lover.
