Black blood seeps into your pores
Filling you, drowning you from the outside
Your veins choke on it spluttering away
As your breathing is restricted, shallow
You shake your head furiously
Clawing at the invisible hand
Clinging to life with every desperate gasp
The streetlights stare at you watching you go
As your eyelids flutter
And your body begins its descent
As your nails shatter and break
And your life is theirs to take
But there is no vicious hand
No blood upon your body
This isn't the day you die
This isn't what you thought
You're the one killing yourself
One cigarette, one drink, one drug
At a time
You'll only realize your killing yourself
At the end of your line

Background Story:
This was basically to represent how you're essentially killing yourself. You are the invisible hand and you're the only one who can stop it. You never really realize how bad what you did was and how it affects your body until you're on deaths doorstep. This one wasn't really as emotional as the others but I really wanted to write something out of my usual style. I wanted you all to feel what it's like to die at something you can't controls hands. That's what addiction is, if you can't stop then you're not going to and won't want to even when people try helping you.
I chose this song because I really wanted an excuse to use this song because Taylor Momsen is my idol. It also kind of fits. Yes she was Cindy Lou Hoo in the Grinch and Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl for those TV addicts out there.
Hope that none of you ever have to go through that or see anyone that is.
A/N: Dedicated to @jessicatrice for the lovely cover she made me for this collection of poetry.
