----------------------- Becky's pov
I ran into the engine room. It was were all the grain was stored during harvest. I didn't know much about the machines as my family was purely a dairy farm rather than arable and didn't use this kind of machinery.
In the corner of the room lay an old table with a few files and folders scattered messily upon its surface. The rusty toolbox lay at the edge of the table.
Leaning across its wide surface I tried to grab it, knocking a bunch of folders off in the process.
"Bugger." I grumbled and bent down to grab the open files.
A certain sheet caught my attention. It was a letter that was partially sticking out of a blue folder.
Making sure no one was coming I slipped the letter out of the folder. It was similar to those ransom letters you see in films. What looked like letters from a magazine had been cut out and stuck on a stained piece of paper.

"We want your farm. Give us the deeds and your family won't get hurt. Don't go to the police or we will burn your house down. You have 10 days."

I read to myself.

Oh shit.

Grabbing the folder I sprinted out of the engine room and towards where the others were waiting.

"Hey Becky. We don't need the toolbox anymore. We thought we'd all go for pi- hey are you ok?" Kat asked.
"I think you guys should see this." I handed the folder over to Jess.
She flicked through, pulling a few pages out and handing them to the others.

"Oh my god. This isn't just a recent thing, my uncle's wanted the farm for years!" She exclaimed.

"We should go." Ash said solemnly.
"We can look at this in more detail back at the house."
Henry slid into the passenger seat of Jess's land rover and Kat and Sam followed me to my car.
"Oh, Sam and I are going on a date tonight. Could you drop us off at the bus stop?" Kat said as I drove down the path towards the main road.
"Yea sure." I pulled to a stop outside the bus stop.
"Thanks bae." She said with a smile. We both did our secret handshake and they left the car.
"I thought I was bae!" I heard Sam whine before he shut the car door.
A few seconds later I pulled up into Jess's drive and clambered out, making a beeline to the front door.
Jess was busy making tea in the kitchen so I went into the sitting room.
Henry had spread the contents of the folder over the floor and was examining a few bits of paper.
I plopped on the floor next to him and began looking over everything.
There were records of mutilated sheep, more threatening notes and some pictures of a few men I didn't recognise.
I heard someone storm down the stairs. Dave burst into the room holding a shoebox that was overflowing with scraps of paper.
He dumped it next to where I was sitting and began to sort through it. A knife fell out next to my foot and I picked it up to examine it.
"Wow. I sure missed a lot." I frowned as I skimmed over the big A3 sheet that Dave had set down in the middle of the floor.
I was miffed that I had missed most of the action. My family and I had gone to visit our relatives up north so I had missed about a week of the holidays.
I usually hung out with the girls every day and Kat was my best friend, so we did a lot of crazy shit together.
Jess came in and placed a cup of tea in front of all of us.
"Hey. Where's Ash?" I asked, noticing her absence.
"Oh. We dropped her off to get pizza. She won't be long." Jess shrugged and took a sip of her tea.
I frowned.
"With what toppings?" I questioned.
"One meat feast, one ham and pineapple, one Americano with extra jalapeños and one stuffed crust margarita."
"With extra garlic dip?"
"Yes. With extra garlic dip." Jess confirmed.
That's goodness. Garlic dip was my life.

I sipped my tea and continued to look at what we had collected, the crappy TV style notes had started a few years back.
"Hey. Look at this, on this note it says you have 10 days before we burn your house. That sheep you found was number 10 right. Well I looked at all the past records of sheep mutilation and they all seem to correlate with the letters. Every time they send a letter they kill the sheep with the matching number on." Henry said.
"There's a recent entry in the book your dad has. It's 6. A number six got axed, wait. Jess when did your parents leave?" He asked, flicking through the pocket notebook.
"I don't know. A week, maybe just under." she said. Suddenly a look of realisation dawned upon her.
Shit.
I seemed to be saying that a lot recently.
The sound of the letterbox clattering and something falling to the ground snapped us out if our stupor.
"I'll get it." Henry declared, jumping up from his spot on the floor and striding towards the door.
Just as Henry left the room my phone began to ring.
It was Ash.
"Yo. Ash, how are the pizzas coming along." I asked.
The only sound I could hear was a sniffling and a few sobs.
"Ash?" I asked.
"Y-you gotta help me! I've been k-kidnapped." She sobbed.

"Shit. Guys, we got another note." said Henry from the doorway.

We have your daughter. Give us the farm or she dies. You have 1 week.
