----------------------- Jess's pov
I woke up to the smell of bacon cooking. I rolled over to see Henry lying face down, snoring into his pillow, his brown hair fell across his eyes. He was always smiling or cracking a joke, so it was odd to see him without his trademark grin.
Smiling to myself I got up and walked downstairs. Oscar was standing next to four frying pans cooking bacon, eggs, tomatoes and pancakes.
"Hey Jess! What would you like for breakfast? There's a fry up, pancakes or porridge." He asked as he flipped the bacon.
"Can I have some pancakes?"
"Yea that's fine!" He got two pancakes from the pan and put them onto a plate.
"Bacon and eggs too?" He asked.
I nodded. My mouth started to water at the sight of all the food.
Oscar handed me my plate and I took it into the dining room.
Oscar was a really good cook and really sweet too. He always made sure everyone else was happy before he thought about himself.
Once I had finished my food I went back into the kitchen and put my plate in the dishwasher.
"Is there anything I can help with?" I asked.
"No that's fine!" He said.
I heard the front door open. Who could that be? I stuck my head around the door to see Sophie. Oh yea. I forgot that she lived here!
"Hey Oscar. Mr and Mrs Moore are back so you might wanna cook extra." I said.
He nodded.
"Mornin' guys." a sleepy looking Dan said from the doorway.
Oscar handed him a plate filled with toast, bacon and eggs.
I put the kettle on just as Becky came trudging in clutching her head.
"How did I get here?" She asked.
"You fell asleep on Dan's back so we put you in the car's boot and brought you with us." I explained.
"Oh, cool... Porridge please." She said when Oscar asked her what she wanted.
She took her bowl and headed out towards the dining room.
Once the kettle finished boiling I made two cups of coffee and found the headache pills from the medicine cabinet.
With pills in one hand and coffee in the other I made my way into the dining room and placed the drinks in front of Dan and Becky.
They nodded in thanks and continued eating their breakfast.
Soon after, Henry came bounding down the stairs.
"Morning all. Oscar, you cooked breakfast? You legend." He grinned.
"Whatcha want then?" Oscar asked, spinning his spatula.
"Erm... pancakes and syrup sounds good!"
Oscar dished his food up and Henry did a little backwards dance out of the kitchen, plate in hand.
Liam walked into the kitchen.
"Mornin' all!" He walked over to Oscar and gave him a hug.
"Whatcha cookin?" He asked and rested his head on his shoulder.
"Breakfast! What do you want?" Oscar asked.
"Porridge looks good. I'll have some of that!" He helped himself to a bowl full of food and wondered off next door.
Slowly, more and more people began to come downstairs and I was put in charge of asking what people wanted and relaying the message back to Oscar.
Once all the food had been eaten and all the dishes had been washed Kat shooed us all out of the door.
"I'm off to go drop everyone off. Bye mum" Kat yells as we walked out.
I felt bad for Kat's parents. They had returned from their lovely trip to France, only to come back to a houseful of hungover teenagers sleeping everywhere.
Kat's parents probably knew she wouldn't be back once she had dropped everyone off. They were kind of used to it by now, Kat spending three of four nights in a row at either of our houses without saying anything.
We all squashed into the car and drove away. We dropped Louis and Oscar off first, then dan and Becky. Sam and Henry were going to stay with us for the rest of the day.
It was a tranquil morning. The sun was beating down on us from the sky and there were wisps of pale orange clouds, like strokes of paint on a bright blue canvas.
The journey from Dan's back to Ash's was a peaceful one, as no one had really woken up yet.
I checked my phone to see I had a voicemail.
"Hey Jess. I got a call from your parents last night, who got a call from the builders and they've nearly finished, so it's safe for you to back now but don't feel you have to." It was Ash's mum. "I know you won't look at your phone for ages, no doubt your all hungover from the party. I've texted ash but knowing her either her phone or ash herself is dead. Have a safe journey home. See you later!"
This was great! I could finally go home. To be fair the building work didn't take that long. Only about a week.
"Who was that?" Henry asked as he braked for the traffic lights.
"It was your mum Ash. She called to say that we can go back to mine now!" I twisted in my seat to look at her with a smile on my face.
She lifted her head from where it lay on Dave's shoulder. "The builders are done?" She asked.
"Your mum said nearly, so that's not a yes or a no but it's safe to move back into." I turned back around to face the front.
"Sooo, where we heading then?" Henry asked, tapping the steering wheel.
I shrugged. "Back to mine?"
"Sounds good to me. " Henry said.We soon reached my house, which was not that far away from Ash's place.
There was still scaffolding around the corner and part of the front of the house. The builders weren't there when we arrived so we pulled up right at the top of the drive.
The familiar gravel crunched under my foot as I got out of the passenger seat holding creeper.
Henry walked over to the boot to let Sam and Kat out, as there hadn't been enough room for everyone in the backseat and Kat didn't want Sam to feel left out in the boot by himself. Also creeper needed the seat more that either of them.
"Ok you two. There's been a change of- AAAAAAAH!!! NO! MY POOR EYES!"
Henry clawed at his face and sank to his knees, crying.
"Henry what's wrong?" Ash ran over to where he lay on the ground. I felt a strange pang of jealousy and I found myself frowning at the two of them. Looking over at Dave, I could see a similar look etched onto his face.
"They w-were kissing!" Henry gagged.
"Oh shut up you prat." Kat smacked his head as she clambered out of the boot, followed by a laughing Sam.
"Why are we here?" She asked.
"I got a call from Ash's mum saying that the building work was done and that we could go back so we decided to come here instead." I answered, snapping back into my smile. I knew Ash wasn't interested in Henry and I wasn't mad at her. It just felt weird seeing her run over to him and it made me a bit jealous.
I pulled my key from out of my pocket and opened the door. We all walked through the kitchen and straight into the sitting room. Flopping down onto the sofa we were faced with a major problem.
"Ok. One of us unlucky sods is going to have to get back up again and go make the rest of us tea." I said with a sigh.
"Well I don't need to drink tea to survive so I'm not doing it." Dave said from the armchair. "Plus, I've been immobilised by this cute fluffy thing." He said pointing to creeper, who had become quite domesticated in the past few weeks.
"Fine! I'll go do it!" Sam got up from his seat and shuffled into the kitchen.
"So what should we do today?" Kat asked with a yawn.
"I need to catch up with some sleep." Ash yawned.
"That's settled then. It's a lazy day." I concluded.
There was a brief pause.
"Jess. Where are your parents? Coz I just realised I haven't seen them in ages." Henry said.
"Oh yea. They had to go up to London because my dad's mum had just died and they need to help organise the funeral and something about finding out what she left to them in her will." I replied.
Sam came back in with the teas, then ran back out to get the rest.
We all drank our tea, then Ash announced she was going to bed and dragged Dave along with her.
"So what's the deal with those two? Are they going out? Are they not going out?" Kat shrugged her shoulders in confusion.
"I have no idea." Henry turned on the TV.
"What should we watch?" He asked as he got onto Netflix.
We ended up picking the hangover.
"I'll get snacks." Kat called and ran off into the kitchen.
She came back as the film began to play, with an armful of snacks.
Dumping them in a pile, we all sat around them and watched the film.
As the film progressed we ate more and more bars of chocolate. When the film had finished and I had successfully eaten my weight in chocolate, I felt my eyes get droopy and I soon fell asleep against the armchair.
