------------------------ Ash's pov
What did he mean we always drank tea! We're British, we drink tea with everything.
I ran downstairs and jumped the last step. Skipping into the kitchen I filled up the kettle and set it to boil. I got a tea bag out and threw it in the cup.
I wonder how Kat's date was going. They really were the best match for each other. I couldn't wait to see everyone's faces at school. Their jaws would drop and they would protest, "But she's not cool! Why are you dating her?"
Other boys would go up to Sam and ask if he was dating you for a dare and he would shake his head and say "No. I really like this girl!"
Well he would if he wanted to keep his head. I mean I would never kill anyone!
... Just hand Kat the knife. She knows how to dispose a body better than I do.
I just had to remember to bring a camera in on the first day back.
I was snapped out of my... schemes by the kettle boiling. I made my tea (with two sugars) and headed back up the stairs. Before I could jump the first step like usual I heard the letter box open.
Oooh! Post! I turned to go and get it, but instead of post a thick black liquid was pooling on the ground. What?!?
I moved forwards to look at it closer but before I could take a step forwards a match fell through the letter box and the black liquid burst into flames.
SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO BURN THE HOUSE DOWN!!
I threw my mug down and pulled out my phone.
"Hello this is 999 please state your emergency."
"Yea. Hi. My house is on fire!"
"Please give me your address and we'll have someone round to deal with the problem."
I thinks she was trying to calm me down. Not working. I backed away from the growing flames.
I gave the address before closing my phone and sprinting upstairs, away from the flames, as fast as I could.
I burst through the door.
"Ash what are y-" I cut Jess off.
"FIRE!" I yelled.
"What?" Jess sat in shock.
"Fire. Smoke. Kaboom. Let's go. Run. Move. We gotta' go now!" I jumped up and down. They both scrambled to their feet.
I ran out of the room with both of them in tow.
We turned the bend at the top of the stairs only to have fire scorch our clothes.
"AHHH! REVERSE!" I yelled and shoved them back. A look of terror spread across their faces and we sprinted back into the room.
"What do we do?" Jess shrieked.
"Get all of your clothes and pile them against the crack at the bottom of the door. We need to call 911 and wait by the window." Dave said, springing to action. He grabbed a fistful of clothes and shoved them against the door.
"Already called the fire brigade." I joined in with blocking up the door. Jess ran over to the window and opened it.
"How far away is the fire station?" I yelled to Jess.
"It's literally just down the road. I can see them now!" she yelled happily.
Dave and I stood up and ran to Jess at the window.
"HELP! HELP US!" We yelled together. The truck screeched to a halt outside the house.
Four firemen broke in through the front door and began battling the flames. The ladder on top of the truck extended to our window and three firemen climbed up. Each one have us a fireman's lift down to the ground. I giggled and waved at Jess who's hair was swinging around wildly. She waved back.
Once at the bottom, a nice paramedic lady with a blonde bun sat us down and checked us for burns. Concluding that we had none, she put us in blankets and sat us down.
I looked back up at the house and all previous joy rushed away. The front corner of the house had been burnt away. You could see the sitting room and part of the kitchen as well as the upstairs bathroom.
Jess began to quietly sob. I hugged her tight, rocking back and forward.
"Shhh, shhh it ok. I'm here... Do you want me to call Kat?"
She nodded so I pulled out my phone.
"Can I talk to her?" she whispered. I handed the phone over.
"Hey Kat. I'm sorry to ring b-but something's happened to the h-house." She sobbed and I gently took the phone from her. Dave hugged her from the side as she cried.
"Hey Kat... Yea it's ash. Someone's burnt the house down... Poured petrol through the letter box... Ok. See you in a bit." I hung up.
I checked the time. It was now eight O'clock. Helen should be back soon. As if on cue her car came into the driveway, next to the fire engine.
The fire men that had been extinguishing the flames came trooping out. One of them walked up to us.
"The fire is all out now. Luckily it missed most of your valuables however your house will need some reconstruction." He crouched down to our level and gently said. "How did the fire start?"
I spoke. "I had made a cup of tea and was walking back upstairs when I noticed a thick black liquid dripping through the letterbox. So I was about to investigate but someone put a match through and the liquid burst into flames... I think it was petrol." I finished.
"What's going on? Are you three ok? What happened?" Hellen ran over to us.
"Hello ma'am. I assume you are the omers of the house."
Helen nodded
"I'm afraid that someone tried to destroy your house..." she stopped him.
"Can we go and talk about this somewhere else?" She tugged the fireman away from us.
A few minutes later another car pulled up and Kat and Sam came running out.
"Are you guys alright? What happened?" she hugged us all.
"Someone poured petrol through the letterbox and set it alight." I said grimly.
Kat looked at the house in horror.
They both sat next to us.
"We got here as fast as we could!" Sam said.
"Thanks guys. And sorry for ruining your date." Jess sighed.
"It ok. Anything for my friends." Kat squeezed our hands reassuringly.
Dave leant in. "I don't know about you guys. But I think that whoever pulled this stunt, also killed the sheep."
I had a horrible feeling he was right.
