Denise woke up feeling heavy and sad.

The events of the previous day had taken a toll on her and she felt like she was stuck in a never-ending cycle of pain.

Her boyfriend Tyler had cheated on her, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of betrayal.

As she lay in bed, she heard her father stumble into the house.

He had been drinking again, and Denise knew that it wouldn't be long before he started causing trouble.

She tried to ignore the sounds of his footsteps, but soon enough he burst into her room.

"Get up, you lazy girl!" he slurred, "You need to start pulling your weight around here."

Denise knew better than to argue with him.

She got up and tried to get dressed, but her father continued to berate her.

"You're useless, you know that?"

Denise felt like she was being suffocated by his words.

She tried to block him out, but the pain was too much to bear.

She felt like she was drowning in a sea of depression, and there was no way out.

As her father continued to rant, Denise felt a sudden surge of anger.

She had been through enough, and she wasn't going to let him tear her down anymore.

She stood up to him and told him to leave her alone.

He didn't like that one bit.

In a fit of rage, he hits her repeatedly, screaming obscenities at her until she collapsed in a heap on the floor and faints.
