Nami met Vivi when the other stawhats did. Vivi was using the name Miss Wednesday. Later Nami tries to get Vivi to pay her one billion berries in order for the straw hats to help her. In the time Vivi ventures with the straw hats, the pair becomes closer. Nami ends up dropping the one billion berries deal because of their friendship.The two hit it off pretty quickly. Many times during the Alabasta and the few previous arcs, they get along well and have fun together. Vivi is there during the Drum Island arc and helps get a doctor to Nami. After the defeat of Crocodile, Nami and Vivi are seen bathing together. Nami is seemingly very upset when Vivi doesn't join the straw hats on their journey and stays in Alabasta.Nami and Vivi are opposites. Nami comes from a poor family with only a mother and sister. Vivi is a princess and comes from a richer powerful family. Their personalities are also different. Nami is a hot headed realist, compared to Vivi who is calm and idealistic. Under stressful moments their personalities become to switch. Nami becomes the calmer one, and Vivi is more frantic.After Nami learns of what happened to Vivi at Mary Geoise, she immediately wants to help her, saying she "can't take it anymore".
