After coming back to the cabin in New Asgard, Dean busied himself with dinner while Thor played with the twins. Dean watched from the kitchen as Thor rolled around on the floor while the boys climbed all over him. The giggling boys lifted their parents' spirits immensely and Dean felt, once more, an extreme measure of gratitude for the happiness that being a dad could bring.
"Fair One?" Thor asked as he rose up and looked at him.
"I'm okay," Dean said with a bright smile. "Just happy we have this."
"We deserve it," Thor stated. "After all we have faced."
"Sometimes I think about my life before I met you. Before all of this," Dean said as he gestured around him. "I used to think I was happy before. I had my career, my friends and my family. I had no idea how good it could be. And, no matter what's come along to threaten it. Loki, Acrimon, Thanos, Amora. Wanda." He paused. "And Set."
Thor pulled the boys close to him and looked up at Dean with a look of expectant care.
"Nothing has taken that away from me. I think my love for you and the boys is what's gotten me through."
Modi suddenly swatted at Thor's face, then giggled excitedly at him.
"How dare you strike the Som of Odin!" Thor playfully said before grabbing the boy up and blowing raspberries on his bare tummy. Magni then reached for Thor's hair and tugged on it, prompting him to pretend he was being overwhelmed. The boys laughed as they climbed all over.
"You know, once they get older you guys are going to have to roughhouse outside," Dean said as he continued to prepare dinner. "You built this house strong but I don't think it can take three rowdy Asgardian boys wrestling around with each other."
The doorbell rang and Thor jumped up. With a boy in each arm, he went to answer the door while Dean continued to work.
"I wonder who that could be," Dean said to himself as he checked his phone to find it free of any notification. "We weren't expecting anyone."
"Fair One!" Thor called out, a note of excitement in his voice. "We have company!"
Dean turned the burner down to let the food simmer and walked down the hall toward the foyer. "Is our guest eating with us?" He asked.
"Though the offer is a kind one, I'm afraid I still don't eat," Vision spoke from the threshold.
"Vision!" Dean exclaimed. "Come inside!"
Vision stepped on and took in his surroundings with a little smile. When he turned back to Thor, Dean and the boys, his smile blossomed. "Tony told me that you had sons," he said in a soft voice as he stared down at Modi and Magni. "May I?"
Thor grinned and offered the boys to him. As the synthezoid held them close to his chest, Modi regarded him with a curious look while Magni reached up to swat at his chin. Vision was silent for some time, his expression solemn. Then he looked up at Dean and Thor, his eyes welled with tears. "Thor, Dean...they're beautiful," he said in a reverent voice.
"Thank you," Dean said as he wrapped his arm around Thor's. "We like them a lot too."
Vision began to gently rock the boys and looked up at the ceiling. "Wanda and I had sons," he said suddenly.
"I know," Dean said solemnly.
"They weren't real, of course," Vision went on, his voice thick with emotion.
"But they were real to you and Wanda," Dean said.
Vision nodded. "Yes. They were."
A comfortable silence settled in until Magni sneezed, which prompted a chuckle from Vision. He looked up at Dean and Thor. "Thank you for this. And for everything."
