Melody’s POV~ Present Day
I wake up alone and the smell of breakfast permeates in the air. A smile stretches across my sleepy face as I stretch on the bed, trying to rid myself of the lingering sleepiness. My stomach rumbles and I roll over to groan in a pillow.
Oh this man is so good to me.
I slip his discarded t-shirt over my head and there is a pleasant ache between my legs, reminding me of last night's excursions. My hair is tangled from his roaming hands and the bed is delightfully rumpled. It’s been so long since we have been together intimately that this reminder of what it’s like to be one with him, feels incredible.
Making love with Xander has always felt like a warm blanket in the middle of a blizzard, or a strong hug in the toughest of times. He’s always made me feel safe, secure and loved. I brush my fingers over my lips, the sensitive flesh still tingling from his tantalizing kisses. I feel like I’m floating on cloud nine, my feet not even seeming to touch the floor as I make my way into the kitchen, where my man cooks with no shirt.
Cotton pajama pants hand off his narrow hips, and the firm bubble of his butt stands out against the thin material. I’ve always thought it unfair that he has a bigger butt than me. That thing could be a hamburger. A very juicy one.
I lean against the cabinet and watch him work his way around my meager kitchen like a pro. The muscles in his back flex with movement and his tricep ripples with each flip and stir on the stove. He is one fine specimen. “You know, I don’t think it’s recommended to cook bacon while shirtless.”
Xander turns to face me, a breathtaking smile gracing his handsome face. His gray eyes flash when he catches sight of me in nothing but his shirt, dragging along the length of my legs. “Good morning, beautiful.” His eyes slide up my body lazily, lingering on the globes of my breasts, visible through the shirt, his gaze darkening a shade before settling on my face. “I think I am fine. Breakfast is ready anyway.”
I smile as I saunter towards him, sliding my hands up the expanse of his chest and around his neck, pressing up against him. His hands waste no time taking a handful of my ass and hauling my tighter against him. I press a kiss to his lips, fisting my hand in the short stands of his hair. “Feed me,” I murmur against his lips.
He chuckles and pats my ass twice before turning back to the stove. “Will do.” He fills up two plates.
Xander has made a hearty breakfast: bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy and there's an assortment of fruits. I definitely won’t be starving when he keeps cooking like this.
Instead of sitting across from each other, he pulls me into his lap, wrapping one arm around me as we eat. It’s slightly awkward, but I find myself leaning into him as we eat in silence. His hand strokes up and down my ribs to my hip and he occasionally presses a kiss against my cheek.
“Any plans for today?” He asks after finishing his mountain of food.
I shake my head. “Nope.” I hope he suggests something we can do together. Since becoming a couple again we have mostly stayed in and cuddled. It is kind of crazy how little has changed. It feels like despite the years we spent apart, it’s like we were never separated. We watch TV while cuddling. We share a bed, we eat all of our meals together, minus lunch on weekdays. We haven’t gone out since the day we first kissed again.
He hums thoughtfully as he nuzzles my neck, his stubble scratching against my skin, causing my skin to pebble, my nipples to harden and a flush to creep across my body. Even my body still reacts the same as it used to. “We could go to the waterfront. The weather is supposed to be really good today.”
