Melody’s POV~ Present Day
Waking up to the smell of cooking bacon is a shock to the senses to say the least. My alarm, set for 6:30 AM hasn’t even gone off, yet my house smells like mouth watering, tummy rumbling bacon.
My lips stick to my nighttime retainer as I roll out of bed, go to the bathroom to take out my retainer and have my morning pee. I shuffle down the hall where a very shirtless Xander cooks, while that is a sight for sore eyes at any time of day, seeing him in my house so early is a shock to another set of senses.
My nipples peak beneath my cami- tank top and my thighs tingle with phantom touches.
Fuck me dude, having him stay here was such a bad idea.
Xander turns around and grins at me, the action so boyish it almost knocks me off my equilibrium. A light dusting of dark hair kisses his chest and I swallow hard. When he was seventeen he could barely grow chest hair. Sometimes I forget he’s a man now. In my mind he is stuck at the age of seventeen, the age he was when they sentenced him to three years in prison.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.” His voice is husky from sleep and I ignore what the sound does to the pounding pulse between my legs.
Yeah, I’m that girl who has to rub it out in the morning, sue me.
I plop into a chair at the table and smack my cheek against the polished wood. “Morning,” I mutter. I am not a happy camper without my morning orgasm.
He chuckles from his place at the stove and just as my eyes start to droop, beckoning me toward the sweet arms of sleep, a plate is dropped in front of me. I shoot up, blinking down at the plate Xander has sat in front of me along with a tall glass of water. On the decorated plastic are five pieces of bacon and two Leggo waffles.
Before I can say I don’t eat waffles without syrup, he plops the bottle right beside my plate and takes the seat across from me. I almost never get visitors so the small circular table only holds two people comfortably, four if you’re okay with no elbow room.
I glance up at his smiling face and watch as he cuts at his omelet and chews on a piece of bacon. “You didn’t have to do this,” I say.
He shrugs and continues to eat so I decide to do the same. It’s too early for me to deal with this shit anyway. My sweater droops off my shoulder and I’ve got some massive cleavage going on, but all of that takes a back burner when I eat my first piece of bacon… mmmm so fucking good. Usually, I don’t eat breakfast on work days, I just take a chocolate muffin to work to eat on my break, but who am I to turn down food? Food I didn’t have to wake up early to make.
For a good while the only sounds are that of utensils tinkling off the plates and the soft sound of cups hitting the table and soft gulping sounds. Just as I cut up my second waffle all of Xander’s movements pause as his eye catches on something near my hand.
That’s when I realize I’m still wearing the engagement ring. The one I so stupidly put on during my trip down memory lane last night. Fuck, it’s definetly too early for this. I swallow my dry waffle hard and pray he doesn’t bring it up. I am not ready to confront him about the past, I just want to eat this lovely breakfast and go to work. This cluster fuck of a mess that Xander has brought with him can be dealt with when it’s not the ass crack of dawn outside.
Whatever God exists must’ve heard my pleas because although his eyes stray to the ring every now and then, like it’s a magnet attracting his eye, he silently shovels the last of his food into his mouth and I follow right behind him. He takes our dishes to the sink and I slink off to my room to get ready for work.
