-30 yr old tighnari and (if same age) cyno-

"I'll be back soon," cyno kissed tighnaris lips, his hand stroking the soft skin of tighnaris face. Missions and commissions are one thing, but the jobs cyno has to do are a whole 'nother. His job this time, was to go to the desert. Where a new group has been climbing and speeding through the ranks of mercenary groups. "Stay safe, and drink plenty of water." Tighnari handed cyno his bag, sending him off at the barrier separating the desert and jungle(forest?). If tighnari physically could, he would most definitely follow cyno, but alas, his physical structure is no longer fit for long desert trips.(not that it ever was fitting)

-1month-

'Such a long trip... I wonder how he's doing...does he have enough water? ... of course he does, Stop overthinking it, he's a big boy.' Tighnari leaned against the table, his hands fidgeting with his tail. The longest trip cyno has been on was 2months at most, yet tighnari could never shake off the uneasiness. "Master tighnari!!" Collei called from outside his door, opening the door slightly. "You ok? If it's about master cyno, you know he's fine. He always come back fine...kinda. You know what I mean." Collei placed a plate of food beside tighnari, trying to console him but not very good at it. She rarely sees tighnarj this sad, or worried even. "Yes...I know collei... *sigh* I-I just overthink..." tighnari smiled weakly, patting her hand, signalling for her to go out.

'He's fine. He's fine. He's fine. Why are you like this tighnari? He always comes back fine, maybe a few wounds. Nothing will happen...yeah...trust him..."

-2months-

"So... how's uhm... how are you doing?" Kaveh slouched slightly, going eye level with tighnari. The redness of his eyes spoke a thousand words. "I'm doing great. Why? Are you?" Tighnari turned away, his ear twitched. "Yeah, I'm ok." Kaveh leaned back into his chair. Maybe asking to meet tighnari in summeru city wasn't the best of his choices. 'Poor him... he looks like he would break any moment.' "Hey tighnari, want to walk around the forest?" Kaveh quickly stood up, dragging tighnari along.

'Kaveh is so nice to me... oh my archons I'm doing it again!' Tighnaris thoughts switched from one thing to another, gradually standing still to hit his head against his palms.

-next week-

Tighnari stood at the bridge of gandarvavile, he has felt better after talking with Kaveh, if one person could understand him, it was Kaveh.

"Tighnari."

A soft and deep voice came from behind him. Turning around to see the beautiful blue-ish purple haired warrior(?). "Ah, hello Candace! Is something the matter?" Tighnari tilted his head, trying to see Candace's face since she was looking down. "Let's go in first. I need to speak to you privately." She said, walking towards the open room that tighnari uses there. "Alright. I'll be right back." Tighnari informed the person he was talking to, before following Candace.

"Tighnari, he's gone."

Candace sat down, her eyes were glossy with tears. "Wha...what? I'm sorry I maybe heard that wrong." Tighnari sat opposite her, his eyes dodged to the side, ears pressed against his head. "I'm sorry..." Candace placed a bundle of something infront of tighnari, before silently leaving. "Fuck..." tighnari whispered. How could it turn to this so quickly? Not even time to breathe. Tighnari looked at the bundle that he opened, two letters were there and nicely wrapped in cynos shirt, hot tears dripping down his cheeks, turning them red.

Tighnari looked at the first one.

Dear tighnari,

Hello my padisarah, how are you? The deserts really cold at night, thank archons you thought of that for me.

I'll be coming back soon, if all goes well, I can get the knowledge capsules they stole and them as well. Who knows, maybe after this I could step down from being the general mahamatra hahah.

I miss you so much :( but don't need to worry alright? Trust me :)

Tighnari held cynos shirt tightly, he could smell some remnants of blood, but ignored it. "You big lumox... leaving me like this? How unflattering." Tighnari whipped his tears away. "He's fine... since he is so renowned and feared, he probably faked it... right?"

Tighnari couldn't bear to read the second letter. Afraid of what the truth may be.

That night he broke the news to collei. She broke quite quickly, tighnari hugging and consoling her, humming a song that cyno used to use on collei that would always calm her down. And it worked.

How would tighnari live, knowing his mate has passed? They didn't even get officially married, or tell their parents about their relationship. Not that tighnari can anymore.

As the days passed, collei managed to get better slightly. Tighnari however, could not. The fact that his kind get emotionally attached to their mates for life did not help his case either, only hurting him more. Every night, tighnari slept with this thought.

'I'll see you soon. My general.'

Maybe I'll do a part 2, though it would not be a 'one shot' anymore
