Lucian had been ecstatic when his pack alerted him of travelers, one of whom turned into his mate. He had been looking for her since he was a child and his parents would tell stories of how they had met. The stories were wonderful on their own, but nothing compared to actually coming face-to-face with her. She was absolute perfection, from her long chestnut brown hair billowing down to her waist and her sable brown eyes. Her full pouty lips begged to be devoured and her creamy white skin looked sweeter than a vintage wine.

Just imagining her petting him again stirred his wolf to an almost volatile state. He was restless from being away from her already, but his two day trip into town couldn't be avoided. He was losing pack members left and right with no known cause. They would just go crazy, ferile in a sense and take off destroying everything in their path. He had to consult with a nearby pack for answers and see if they'd had the same problem.

In a few hours, hopefully he would be closer to finding out then could return home. But in the meantime, he would have to sit around and wait, trying to calm down his wolf as well as himself.

Why was she in the mountains? Was she a spy? He prayed not. She said she was there to take pictures of animals but why? Was she getting intel on his pack to relay to another? The thought had his wolf even more upset thinking their mate was going behind their back. She was human though so maybe she didn't recognize the bond. She hadn't missed feeling the sparks though. Ah, those wonderful, electrifying sparks.

His mind began to hone in on his pack members, checking in to make sure everything was going well. As Alpha of the pack, he was a leader of sorts, the big man if you will on the totem pole. He had left Colby, his beta in charge while he was gone and decided to link him through their mind link.

'How are things?' he asked curiously.

He could sense Colby's anger and waited nervously for a reply.

'Fine, Alpha. We caught some trespassers snooping around but we've locked them away in the holding cells until you return,' Colby growled.

'Good, good. What were they doing this time?' Lucian questioned.

'Just spying through the treeline. The dark headed one was yapping on a tape recorder while the brunette was taking pictures of the pups playing. Real bitch she is, demanding answers from me like a damn lap dog,' he fumed. 'She even had the nerve to tell me to put up signs because she didn't know she was on our land.'

It took everything in him not to shift on the spot. He knew Colby was talking about his mate and her roommate and was furious someone dared lock his mate up in a dungeon! On top of that his beta called her a bitch and sounded less than pleased with her attitude. He wasn't bothered by that. Colby deserved respect but let his title get the better of him sometimes. It was a good thing she was putting him back in his place. She showed the night before how caring she could be, afraid she'd hurt him when the sparks set off and telling him she would even take him home. She would make a perfect Luna once he introduced her to his world and initiated The Change.

'They are humans, most likely knowing nothing of our world. I met the brunette yesterday; they're just explorers. Go ahead and give them rooms in the pack house away from trouble and keep a guard posted on them at all times until I return.'

'But Lucian-I mean Alpha-' Colby began to protest before he was interrupted.

'I gave an order, pup. I expect it to be followed. You should know better than to question my authority! Since you don't seem to remember who is in charge you and I will be having a talk. Oh, and Colby?' Lucian said.

'Yes Alpha?' he replied.

'I better not hear a word about them being treated unkindly,' he finished and closed the link. This little meeting could wait until another day; his mate was distressed and his wolf was fed up with waiting.
