Alpha Daniels was an arrogant man, it only took five seconds of looking at him for Kennedy to determine. She had insisted to Lucian she be a part of this little pow-wow, to see the creature who had ultimately killed Mina. Lucian was objective, but since the wolf would be able to smell her in the house anyways, it hardly mattered to Kennedy.
The resemblance between the man and Colby standing next to him was uncanny. Even in what she guessed was his early fifties, he still had a full head of red hair, though sporting a serious receding hair line. His eyes, just like his nephew's shone with contempt and undisguised hostility.
"I guess it's safe to assume you're Daniel?" she presumed.
The man growled, hating the woman even more for her blatant disrespect towards his title.
"It's Alpha Daniels, actually," he said through gritted teeth.
"No, I don't recognize you as an alpha! You don't deserve my respect like that. Alphas are meant to set good examples for packs to follow. Murdering innocent humans because of you and your family's immaturity and extreme jealousy hardly qualifies as a good alpha," Kennedy argued.
She didn't care how rude it was to show him such disrespect. He deserved nothing but a swift kick to the teeth in her eyes. She didn't even know this Cassie yet, but she had a feeling she wasn't going to like her any better. The whole family should've been snake shifters, not wolves, as slimy as they were.
"Excuse me? It is your privilege to be present in front of an alpha and you should address me accordingly," Daniel spat.
"You're not excused. I'm human, I don't have to do shit," she fired back just as hatefully.
Lucian was tired of this pathetic male in from of him acting superior and wouldn't tolerate any more, especially on his territory.
"Kennedy is my mate and in your case, should be addressed as Luna! Now how about you get on with the reason you're here so you can get back to your pack?" Lucian suggested.
"She is no Luna! This is precisely the reason I came and you know it! There was an arrangement made and I expect it to be followed through with," Alpha Daniel argued.
"I agree," Colby cut in.
Count on the pack bully to have something to say, Kennedy thought.
"As far as I understand, you are part of this pack, not his, Colby. Which means, if you don't recognize and respect me as your Luna there are consequences; such as death or being banished from this pack. Am I correct Alpha Lucian?" Kennedy supplied, making sure to add emphasis to his title.
Lucian saw where she was going with this and agreed. "That is correct. Wasn't it just recently you threatened to kill Kennedy for trespassing, a human no less? Now would be the time to decide where you stand, Beta, or you can follow your uncle right back out of here. Alpha Daniels, the arrangement was discussed, never solidified. All of that is null and void now that I've found Kennedy. You should just hope Cassie one day finds her mate. I can't be that person, I apologize," Lucian explained.
"I told you this is what he would say!" Colby hollered.
"And I told you to pick a side! I'm choosing for you. I, Alpha Lucian Storm, from the Dark Storm Pack, banish you, Colby Walters, from the pack and with that your status as my beta," Lucian announced.
Colby could feel the weight of his beta responsibilities lift from his shoulders. It left the redhead feeling lost, he wasn't sure what to do anymore. Kennedy didn't know what to feel. She was glad the prick lost his title and Lucian's respect, but at what cost? Her friend's life, the twins being hurt; wouldn't this cause bigger problems for them later?
