Waiting for Jhoyz

When I opened my eyes the bright lights of the room blinded me for a few minutes.

Someones holding my hand and I can hear people talking in hush tones around me. Then that someone squeeze my hand and let go. I opened my eyes slowly and saw my mom, dad and grandpa looking at me.

Concerned lining their faces.

" baby...are you ok now?" My dad said breaking the silence. I was surprised. He didnt call me baby anymore.

He hold my hand and kiss my forehead. " im so sorry. Please forgive me baby.." He said and then he turn around and walk to the window. Mom approach him and they talk in low tones again.
I see him wiping his face. Is dad crying? Why?

Grandpa sat on the bed and enclosed me in a big hug. " Im sorry ..Jhoyz. " he whispered.

" I didnt know that youll feel like this. The marriage is called off. Im not going to ask you to do it ok? " His voice is so sweet and I feel his hand trembling.

" what happened? " I asked him.

" you were so stressed. The doctor said you almost have a breakdown. " he smiled sadly at me and I hug him.

" Im ok now grandpa. Dont be sad." I told him. " are we going home soon? "

" I'll ask the doctor baby.." Mom said and kissed me on the cheek.
She look like she hasnt sleep for a week.

" mommy why do you look so tired? Didnt you sleep? " I ask her and she smiled at me.

" Im fine baby ...dont worry about me ok? " she kissed me again and they all went out of the room. A nurse came in and assist me in going to the comfort room. I felt a bit better although my legs felt so tired like I run a hundred mile race. I change clothes after I did a half bath.

" how are you feeling now? " the nurse ask and wrote something on my chart.

" Im ok." i said and smiled at her.

" you were so lucky. Your boyfriend didnt leave your side for three days! He only left today after you wake up." She said cheerfully.

" I slept for three days?" I asked surprised. No wonder my parents and grandpa are so concerned.

But wait, she said boyfriend. Maybe its my fiance. Mr. Masked guy. He left today when grandpa called off the marriage. I hope he finds someone else to marry.

I remember Yonghwa and what I told him, then I sighed. He must have forgotten about me by now. We just met and known each other for almost two months. And I told him not to see me again.

After graduation I went to London. My aunt Chelsea asked me to join them they are going to Napa Valley for vacation.

There were lots of trees and grape vines and Im sorrounded by nature.

Yonghwa should be here with me. I thought to myself. I remember him everytime I see flowers or ponds. Even when my aunt serve spaghetti. I would remember his smile.

My two weeks vacation is up so I prepared my things and aunt Chelsea and my cousin Debbie drove me to the airport.

" take care of yourself Jhoyz" Debbie said and hug me. In that two weeks that I spent with them we became close and inseparable. She's the only one who knows what I feel about Yonghwa because I told her about him.

" dont look to far away, your destiny is just around the corner." She told me smiling and waving goodbye.

I just sleep on the plane with my earphones on my ears. When I woke up the plane has landed and theres a few of passengers left. The stewardess woke me up.

My mom sent a message that someone will pick me up because daddy has a meeting and my brother Brian is sick.

I sat on the lounge waiting when someone sat beside me. I didnt look up. I was busy looking at the pictures I have on my phone. I took a lot of pictures when we were in the vineyard.

" wow thats so many grapes!" I heard someone say and I turn to look at him.

" Yonghwa!" I said and I stand up.

" Hello Jhoyz...." He put a strand of my hair behind my ear and smiled. His eyes shining like the stars. " I missed you." He said and hug me.

I raised my arms and hug him back. " I miss you too! " I whisper.

" what did you say?" He asked me looking at my face and I blushed.

" nothing..." I said and look at my phone. I was putting my cellphone inside my pocket when he hold me hand and started to walk.

" wait ! im waiting for someone!"
I shout at him.

He went back and slung my bag on his shoulders. Then he hold my hand and start walking towards the exit.

" Yonghwa! Someone will come for me." I told him and he smiled at me.

" He already came for you. " He said and continue walking.

" huh? Wait do you know him?" I asked him.

" yes. Dont you know? " he glance at me and said  " its your fiance.."

" what?!" I almost shout.
I stopped walking and he turn to look at me.

Suddenly I felt so stupid. Maybe grandpa only told me that the weddings off so I will get better.

" its not so bad." Yonghwa said and hold my hand. " dont you like him?" He asked me.

" no.." I answered and bit my lip.
" I dont even know him.." I said and look away.

" what if he courts you so you get to know each other..is that ok with you? "  he asked me and I shake my head.

" its not that easy..." I told him as we approach his car. He placed my bag on the back seat and opened the door so I can sit next to him.

" why?" He asked as he adjust my seatbelt. Then he look at my face.

" did you fall in love in London?" His face is so close that I can see his eyes clearly. His eyelashes curled like a girls lashes and his mouth looks so soft.

He hold my hand and lift it to his lips and kiss it. I just look at him.

" please give me a chance Jhoyz." He said slowly. " I promise not to rush you. I will be patient and wait till you like me. Just dont push me away." He said it with so much sincerity.

But Im confused. " why would you do that? You said you know my fiance.." I asked him.

He smiled at me and squeeze my hands. " Im your fiance Jhoyz. My and your grandfather are bestfriends. They talk about setting us up when we were in primary school. I was always present on your birthday until your sixteenth birthday.

His eyes suddenly look sad... " You dont even remember me."
