"I enchant this rock to fly into the air and land again."

The enchantment was for nothing more than my own entertainment, but I still felt a little bit of energy leave my body because of it. The spell I had cast on myself to limit the amount of magic I used was a bit more potent than I had wanted it to be, but I had made it so it couldn't be removed or changed. Welp.

"You really ought to stop doing that," a voice said. An icy chill trickled down my spine. It was my voice.

Not my voice, I realized. Hers.

The mixed feelings of anger, fear, and regret were back.

"Azure," I said, turning to look at her. She leaned against a tree, twirling a dagger leisurely in one hand. "Come to kill me, I assume?"

My clone grinned at me. "Not yet. This is entertaining. Your 'friends' are getting you into problem after problem: Watcher experiments, adventures to fix broken crystals, labyrinths. It's fun to watch."

I sighed. "Make up your mind. Are you gonna kill me or not? Because if you are, you're taking an awfully long time with it."

Azure shrugged and changed the subject. "Back to what I was saying when you so kindly interrupted me with a conversation about your upcoming death, you ought not to use your animus magic anymore."

"And why not? Actually, why should I even hear you out?"

"'Cause you're breaking the laws of the universe, that's why. Now, I know you enjoy breaking the fourth wall-"

"Hi, readers."

"-But this is getting ridiculous. That one annoying SandWing yeeted animus magic off the face of the earth. You shouldn't have it."

"By that logic, neither should you. I'm not about to stop breaking the laws of the universe just so you can get an easier kill."

"I don't want an easier kill. If I wanted to kill you right now, you'd already be dead."

"I believe you."

Azure shrugged. "But anyway, stop breaking the laws of the universe. If you do, I will."

I gave her my sweetest, most passive-aggressive smile. "No."

Azure shrugged and turned away, spreading her wings in preparation for flight. "Whatever. It's fun either way."
