They walked out in the yard as they talked about things they've been through and how John B's father got lost at sea 8 months ago when, unfortunately, the bell rang. "Skip?" JJ asked when they all looked at each other except the sweet, good Pope. "Hell, no!" He refused as the rest just shrugged and got off the school property when Pope sighed. "Fine, this is the last time!" He lied as he followed his friend group. "You doing anything this summer?" John B asked while they jumped over the school gate. "Do you consider uh," Adelaide started counting with her fingers. "Laying in bed, stuffing myself with food, hanging out with people I don't even like, and listening to my mom complain as doing anything? If you do, then yes. I am super busy this summer." She said expecting people to laugh but they just looked at her in pity. "Dude that's sad." JJ quietly said as she nodded. "It indeed is, but that's life as a Kook I guess." She explained when Kie gave John B an approving look. "That's why," He walked over to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "You're spending summer as a Pogue." She raised her eyebrows and looked over at him. "Are you, like, sure? I'm a kook." She scoffed when John B shrugged and turned to look at her. "Kie was a Kook too, do you think she used to fit in there?" He asked when she smiled and hugged them all. "You guys just saved me from the shit summer I was gonna have!" She happily said when they all hugged her back as they walked out of the school terrain.

"Are you guys, sure? I mean, do you guys even like me?" She asked when Kie nodded. "I mean, you kinda took the blame for something you didn't do and I kind of just accidentally ghosted you," Kie said shaking her head a little and looking up at AJ. "Okay, you kind of have a point there." AJ pauses and points at Kie while laughing. "I'm surprised you still want to hang out with me," Kie said when AJ shrugged. "It's fine, I guess I would've done the same if I was in that situation," AJ said putting her arm over Kie's shoulder. "How was kook academy?" Kie asked when AJ groaned. "It was absolute shit, I have non-stop beef with Sarah Cameron and she kind of stole my boyfriend," AJ said when Kie raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? I heard you caved her face in once." Kie said making her chuckle a bit. "Oh dang, that was not because of her stealing my boyfriend." She said when Kie looked at her confused. "Then why?" Kie asked when Adelaide made a face and paused. "Because she had to watch her fucking mouth and not mess with people when she can't clean her mess on her own," Adelaide said when she heard some shocked sounds from the boys listening to their conversation. "Oh, period!" Pope said when Adelaide looked back at him. "What did she do to get Little Addie to jump her?" John B asked when she remained silent and looked back at him.

"Doesn't matter." She said looking back forward and continuing to walk. "Come on tell us!" JJ pleaded playfully. "Come on!" John B repeated as the two kept nagging. "Fine, she talked bad about people I care about and I just couldn't let her do that." She said when they all exchanged glances and smiled. "She's a pogue," JJ whispered to Pope making Pope smile proudly.

"The infamous Chateau!" John B said jumping onto the hammock. "This is where we usually hang out, no one is here to annoy us. We're just ignored and neglected." Kie said when AJ nodded. "Is that a good thing?" AJ asked full of concern and curiosity. "Are you like actually crazy? Being neglected means freedom!" JJ said making her nod and agree. "Okay, makes sense I guess." she nodded and sat down in the chair on the front porch. "So, have you ever smoked?" JJ said lighting up a joint. "What's in this? Like weed or... hashish?" She asked when a smile grew on his face. "She knows what she smokes..." He said offering her the blunt. "No thanks." She shook her head trying to keep her cool. She never smoked after The incident.

Flashback: Two years ago,

"Oh god, call someone."  A stressed boy called Toby held a girl in his lap. "Guys, is she okay?"  Sarah asked as she got through the crowd that was filming and surrounding them. "Oh my god, get out of the way!" Toby said pushing people who got too close. "What did she have?" Sarah asked and Toby sighed. "I- I don't know, she was blowing... weed? No more than that, she then- she drank, I don't know... w-we were playing 16 shots and she passed out." He said with stress in his voice and Sarah buried her face in her hands. "Gosh! She's 14!" Sarah said frustrated as she put water on the vomit that belongs to the girl. "Jeez, how did I know she was a lightweight?" He asked Sarah when she shoved him. "She's 14! She took, I don't know like 10 tequila shots and she smoked cannabis. What do you even expect?"  "Adelaide, stay with me...."

"Earth to AJ!" Kie waved her hand in front of AJ's face. "Sorry, I zoned out." She said snapping out of her thoughts. "Shit." "It's fine, don't worry," JJ said with a concerned look on his face. "You okay?" He asked when she nodded quickly. "I just- nothing, never mind."
