I watch Ivy closely, ignoring the pain swallowing my body whole. She opens her eyes causing me to jump back a bit. I didn't expect her eyes to be white, fully white. There's no green in her eyes anymore, just white.
"Ivy?" I ask.
She doesn't say anything. I can't even tell if she's looking at me or not as she moves her hands, touching my wound on my stomach. Her hands are scorching hot, making me stuck in a breath. She doesn't pull back her hands as she continues to burn me. I look up into her white eyes as she moves her hands to my leg, my side completely healed with only a scar to prove I was ever stabbed.
Her hands burn me again, but this time I try not to flinch, knowing what's going to happen. It burns for a minute or so and Ivy pulls back. I look at my leg and see another scare, my leg completely healed. This will is amazing. She could save millions of lives, and maybe even her own. If she practices and perfects it, she could be immortal by healing herself nonstop.
I look up to see Ivy falling to the floor, passing out. I jump down and catch her just before her head hits the ground.
"Ivy! Ivy! Are you okay! Wake up!" I shout.
She doesn't move in my arms as I sit up in my lap. I brush out the hair out of her face, not knowing what else to do. I check her wrist to find a pulse. It takes me a second, but I finally find it. It's slow and faint, and that worries me. What if she dies? I don't know how this will work, or if there's any punishment for using it.
Her eyes flutter open with a smile.
"I'm right here. You don't have to yell." She laughs, her voice hoarse.
I laugh with relief, noticing her eyes are back to her normal green.
"Yeah. I'll try not to next time?"
"Next time? Are you playing on almost getting killed again?" She asks.
"No, but I could ask you the same thing."
"What? Oh yeah." She laughs.
"What's so funny?" I ask, raising an eyebrow at her.
"Nothing. I just have the giggles I guess." She sighs.
"Do you remember doing anything when you were healing me?"
Ivy looks up at me will confusion her eyes.
"No, I don't." She says.
"Well what do you remember?"
Ivy sits up and crawls out of my lap, sitting criss-crossed across from me.
"I remember feeling something. It don't know how to describe it, but when I reached out to touch it everything went white."
"White huh?"
"What's wrong?" she asks.
"Nothing. Your eyes turned white and your hands were scorching hot. When I said your name you didn't respond or even look at me."
"I don't remember that."
"Yeah. You should try not to use it as often though."
"Why not?" She looks up at me with a smile. "I can heal things now. How amazing can that get?"
I don't want to ruin this for her, but I also don't want this to mess her life up without her even knowing.
"Ivy. You couldn't remember anything you did. It could get worse. Obviously with a will this strong, come with consequences to balance the universe."
"What do you mean? Like, I could forget healing someone? I would remember afterward. I did this time. I don't get what you're saying." She says, her smile slowly falling from her face.
"Ivy. You could forget the person entirely. Your memories can get wiped for good. You could forget the people closest to you if you heal them, even once."
"Maz. I don;t know why you're making this a big deal. I just used it once in my life and-"
"Yeah, and you passed out, only to wake up and not know what you did!"
"Maz this is a big thing for me! Why can't you just be happy for me!" She yells, standing to her feet.
I stand up with a frustrated sigh.
"Ivy. I am happy for you. I'm just telling you that you need to be careful and not reckless with this will."
"Well it doesn't sound like you're trying to do that! It sounds like you're just trying to control me and tell me how to use it! I'm not some toy for you and your father to play with!"
I hold out my hands, ready to defend myself and my father.
"Ivy. Me nor my father are trying to use you okay? I know that you're not a toy to play with. Stop thinking irrational, and yelling so loud."
She scoffs, crossing her arms.
"I'm done."
"What?" I ask.
"I'm done. I'm going back home."
"Ivy." I sigh. "You know your father will just find you and try to use you again."
"What? No. My father never used me. That was my mother."
Now I'm the one looking confused. Has she lost her mind? How can she forget-
"Ivy."
"What do you want Maz. If you're trying to give me another lecture about my will then I will walk out this door right now!"
"Ivy, you already forgot! You got it confused! It was your father who trying to use you not your-"
"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
Ivy storms out of the cottage and I follow her.
"Ivy! Just try to remember."
"No! Just leave me alone Maz!"
"No! Just listen!" I yell.
I reach out to her, about to grab her, but she pulls away from my reach and hits me in the side of my head. I fell to the ground, blacked out.
