"So." he starts, taking a step closer to me. "Why haven't you started running away?" He asks with a smile.

I look into the desert and stumble for an answer.

"Um-" I falter.

He takes another step closer to me, closing the space between us, and I unwillingly look into his icy blue eyes as he smiles down at me.

"Because you don't want to." He answers for me. I open my mouth to protest but he interrupts me. "You want to leave, but you can't. There's something keeping you here." He whispers, leaning down by my ear. I stiffen as his breath brushes against my neck, a chill goes through my body. "Something that you refuse to admit to yourself."

I put my hands between us and shove. Maz catches my wrist and pins them to my side.

"Liar." I snapped at him.

He looks down at me and smiles.

"Whatever you say." He tells me with a laugh.

He lets go of me and I take an uncoordinated step back and fall to the sandy ground with a grunt. Maz burst out laughing like it's the funniest thing ever. He leans down, holding his side as if it holds himself together. I pick up a handful of sand and chunk it at his face. Maz continues to laugh as he easily dodges it. I pick myself off the ground and cross my arms, staring at him.

"What's wrong princess? Do you want a rematch?" He asks me with a laugh.
