Chapter 9 Insecurities and Getting Ready

Harley's POV

*One Week Later*

I've been at the rental house for a week. Today, we are all going to The OutSkirts bar that I use to play at. My Uncle Jeff's band's playing. The owner was excited that I was wanting to sing again. I'm a little nervous about tonight though. The last time I played there Jackson was furious. That was the night the abuse started. Koe, Jay, Hardy, Bunnie, and Caitlyn are excited to hear me sing a gig. They heard me work on some of the old songs that I've written. There is a knock on my door that drags me out of my thoughts.  I walk over to my bedroom door and open it.

"Hey, gorgeous!" Caitlyn says smiling at me with a big smile.

"Hey, girly! What do you have planned?" I say with a slight chuckle.

"I'm going to do your hair and makeup for tonight. Bunnie, is going to help pick out an outfit." Caitlyn says as Bunnie walks up the stairs.

"Are you ready to make Koe drool?" Bunnie says with a smirk.

"I guess so." I say a little nervously as to what these two have planned for me.

They both come in and start going through my clothes and makeup.

"I'm going to shower and wash my hair. Just let me know what y'all figure out." I call over my shoulder as I head to the bathroom.

I close the bathroom door. I strip out of my clothes and that's when I get a good look at my body. I take a good look at the damage done to me. My ribs are healing nicely. The bruising is going away slowly. The brand is healing okay. The handprints on my sides are going away. I also notice all the old scars. The lash and burn marks on my back. I can't help the tears that form. I don't know how anyone can love something this ugly. I'm pull myself together and get in the shower.

Koe's POV

I'm sitting downstairs with Hardy, Dre, and Jay while the girls are upstairs. I can't help but think about everything that's transpired this past month. I'm pulled out of my thoughts by Hardy.

"What's on your mind Koe?" Hardy says looking at me with worried look on his face.

"I'm just think of how my life has changed in the span of a month. I went for this deep dark spiral to finding this woman I can't stand to loose. I honestly am scared that I'm going to ruin this." I say looking at the three of them.

"Koe, your not going to mess this up. I have never seen you look at woman the way you look at Harley. That's saying something. I've know you since we where in diapers. Plus if you think of messing it up you're Mama will kill you." Dre says as he gives me a pat on the back.

"I'm going to give you a piece of advice I had to learn the hard way. She is going to need a lot of reassurance. She's probably going to second guess y'all's relationship. She is probably going to push you away. She will probably try and run. You are going to have to show her she's safe with you. When Bunnie and I got together I had to learn that. Especially when your dating someone who's been in abusive relationship." Jay says giving me a reassuring smile.

Before we can say anything else there's a knock on the front door. I look at the boys confused as to who'd be here. I go to the front door. I open the door to see my mom, dad, my sisters, and Macey.

"What are y'all doing here?" I say looking at them surprised.

"We wanted to spend time with you and Harley. Plus Bunnie mentioned that y'all convinced her to sing tonight. We wanted to come and support her tonight." My mom says with a smile on her face.

"Thank you!" I say as I lean down and hug my mom.

I move to the side and let them inside. Macey goes straight to Dre who looks surprised. I can't help but smile that my best friend found his forever. Zoe and Presleigh both hug me before heading to the living room.
