The Battle for Earth

Story Time

"Tell us your story first," said Arnold. "Then we shall decide whether you are friend..." He lit a small light. "Or foe."

It wasn't my fault that I got drunk. I honestly didn't know John would call on me for help, so I went to a bar and had a few drinkies. Obviously, I didn't mean to crash into Demi, but I thought she was a pink fluffy unicorn that was attacking us. Hey, at least I'm sober now!

"All right, then," said Hannah, limping towards them. "I'm Hannah Yinoshi, and this is Demi Meereen. We're part of the Human Space Army."

"Oh, we know about the Human Space Army," sneered Barry. "They're partly the reason we're in this freaking cave."

"Shut up and let us talk," said Demi. "So anyways, we were tasked with meeting the Nemesis in battle above Earth. It was supposedly the final battle of the Nemesis against the humans. It was either beat them, or we get killed."

"I didn't know I would get tasked!" said Hannah. "I had a few drinks before he called me."

"Quiet, you," snapped Demi. "So then we flew towards the Battle Zone, Hannah crashed into me, and now we're here. Now you tell us why you didn't like the fact that we were part of the Human Space Army."

Arnold looked at his brother. "We were once captains of our own ships," said Arnold. "I was Captain of the USS Tesseract, while Barry was Captain of the USS Aether."

"You were the captains of those two ships?!" cried Hannah. "I heard they were lost in space far away in another galaxy!"

"They were," said Barry, ashamed. "You see, we came across the Nemesis on our travels. They were... hostile to us. We called in to the Human Army Station, requesting to destroy them, but HSA protocol dictated that all new life forms must be examined before deciding any action against them."

"We didn't listen to them," said Arnold. "We destroyed one of their main bases in Deep Space, but then our ships got destroyed."

"Only us two survived via prototype Stealth Pods the HSA were working on," said Barry. "When we returned to Earth and told them our story..."

"You were fired," said Demi. "For disobeying HSA protocol."

"To hell with protocol," said Arnold. "I can see that you two follow protocol strictly. Well let me tell you two that obeying protocol doesn't always end in a good way."

"That was when we realized we could take matters into our own hands, without the HSA," said Barry. "We stole two of their fighters and tried to take on the Nemesis on our own."

"Biggest mistake of our lives, if you ask me," said Arnold. "The Nemesis had scanned us and attacked us again."

"But... if you went after the Nemesis again with just two fighters..." said Hannah. "How did you get into Deep Space?"

"We didn't," replied Barry. "You see, the Nemesis had learned of us, and entered our Milky Way."

"We found them at the Theta D star system near the edge of the galaxy," said Arnold. "We escaped, but only barely. Our ships crashed here. Only the Reactor survived, the engine from one of our ships."

"Is it that silver thing?" asked Hannah.

"Yes," replied Barry. "Arnold? Shall we?"

"Shall you... what?" asked Demi.

"Yes, brother, I do believe they are trustworthy people," replied Arnold.

"Guys, just f***ing tell us what it is!" said Hannah.

"We are going to help you get back to your friends."
