The Battle for Earth

Infiltration, Part 1

"We're going into the Mothership."

Crazy plan, I know. But I figured that if we destroyed its main player, everyone would panic and we could see our chance. Joseph doesn't seem crazy about that idea, but I saw John's eyes light up when he heard it. I guess it's time to infiltrate the Mothership!

"You're not serious," said Joseph incredulously.

John considered it for a moment. "It doesn't seem like a bad plan," he said. "They do have a little opening that seems to be their ship bay."

"Yes, but if they destroy our ships," said Henry. "And they most likely will, how will we get out? Neither of us know how to pilot one of those fighters."

"Ah, come on! How hard can it be? Besides, I have my suit. I'm fine," said Marijn.

"Let's do it," said John. Joseph was shocked.

"We might die in there!" he cried.

"Yes, and it would be for the good of humanity. Not a bad way to die, I suppose," said John. "Are you with me?"

"I'm in," said Marijn. "It's my idea, so of course I'm coming."

Henry paused for a moment. "Me too," he said. "But only if I get to shoot things."

"Oh, you will," said John. "Joseph? Are you coming?"

Joseph said nothing. He then looked outside his cockpit at Marijn.

"Fine..." he said at last. "But if we die, I'm gonna kill you, Marijn!"

They flew off back into the battle. At once, they were fired upon.

"Shields up!" said Marijn. Easy for him to say, he just had to say a command. The rest of them frantically pushed in the input code for shields.

"In we go!" yelled Joseph.

They swerved and dodged incoming fighters. They blasted anyone who shot at them.

"There's the Mothership!" said Henry, pointing at the large spherical ship in front of them.

"There's the ship bay!" said Marijn.

The four of them flew into the ship bay. They climbed out of their cockpits (Marijn did not) and emerged into a brightly lit, purple ship bay.

"We did it..." Joseph gasped. "We entered a Nemesis Mothership."

"Now what?" asked Henry.

John turned to the three of them.

"We fight."
