Mirrors and Flamel

Christmas was coming, one morning everyone woke to find Hogwarts under 7 feet of snow and the lake froze over, Y/n and the Weasley twins decided to bewitch snowballs and have them throw at Malfoy and his cronies, no one could wait for the holidays to start even though the common room was warm and toasty some of the corridors were covered in ice and classroom windows battered by the icy winds, Y/n would often ask Hermione what was the spell she used on Snape to which she wouldn't give him an answer because she knew exactly how he would use it especially when Malfoy started to make fun of all the students who wouldn't be going home for Christmas, not that it bothered him to much because he and signed up to stay at Hogwarts instead of having to back to the Dursleys, Ron and his brothers would be staying for Christmas since Mr and Mrs Weasley would be going to Romania to see Charlie

After Potions class they left for the great hall and to see it covered in Christmas decorations that Professor McGonagall, Flitwick and Hagrid had put up, for these past few weeks the four had been trying to find anything on Nicolas Flamel in the library while Y/n has been sitting there swearing he's heard that name before but still they couldn't find him anyway, Hermione made a list of different possible books to search for while Ron pulled out books at random, Harry and Y/n headed for the restricted section but were quickly kicked out because Y/n opened a screaming book while they were sneaking in, only older students could go in there for advanced defense against the dark arts

Harry: You just had to open it didn't you.....

Y/n: It was shiny and I thought it might have him inside it

Harry: Shiny, that's what made you think let's open it

Y/n: It's a book!!!!

They waited outside of Ron and Hermione hoping they would find something but as usual they found nothing, what they needed was a long search without madam Pince in the way and that's when Y/n came up with an idea while the four were at lunch in the great hall

Y/n: I'll go back when it's night time and sneak inside

Hermione: Good idea, Harry and Ron can join you

Harry and Ron weren't looking so thrilled as Harry told them why they got kicked out in the first place

Y/n: Oh come on you too, Hermione can give us a list on what kind of books we should be looking for

Ron: Hermione while you're home you can ask your parents about him since it'll be safe

Hermione: It'll be safe especially since my parents are dentist's

Hermione tried to make her parents sound very uninteresting in her sadness knowing it was nothing like in the magical world

Y/n: There's nothing wrong with being a dentist, they are just as important and interesting as defence against the dark arts, they are defence against the candy canes

Hermione smiles and shakes her head at his terrible joke

Once the holidays started Y/n, Harry and Ron were having too good of a time to even think about Flamel as the common room was far more empty than usual and could lounge about in the good chairs by the fire clumping anything they could get their hands on while talking about ways of getting Malfoy expelled, Hermione taught Y/n Incendio before she left as a Christmas present which he was now feeling guilty for not getting her anything, Ron started teaching Harry wizard chess while Y/n just watched or napped while they played, unlike normal chess the peace's moved and was like directing troops into battle, Ron's peace's were old and battered like everything he owns which was something passed on from one of his brothers but in this case his grandfather, which meant his chess trust him unlike Harry's who were lent by Seamus Who didn't trust Harry at all
