The following month, Shrieking Shack was stirred by the noises of children whose ready to prepared their day by shopping where they could buy their school supplies and their own wands based on the instructions written by Dumbledore in their letter. Hermione wake up early and seems to be more excited about Hogwarts. She didn't stopped talking about the topic which annoyed Tom and Draco to the end. She fussed over the boys on how they shouldn't be late and memorized the lists of books, clothes and other stationery. Draco was still amused on how Tom and Hermione bickering at the morning about which house
is the better one. They enjoyed their breakfast with toast, blueberry, mashed potatoes and grilled fish. Every day was the same foods in the morning because that was all they could afford to get for breakfast and they'd always collected water sources from river inside the forest or even rainwater. It was almost nine o'clock and they leave Shrieking Shack to go to Ollivander's first. When they finally found the shop, they went inside to find that there was nobody else except a middle aged looking man with light brown hair was arranging the pile of narrow boxes containing wands to the right shelf. The man looked over his shoulder when he heard the bell ringing as he saw three children entered his shop. He walked toward his desk and asked " How may I help you? Hogwarts then? " " Yes. We're looking for wands, Mr Ollivander", said Hermione with soft voice. " Alright there young lady, let's find a match for you", Ollivander assured to her. He levitated a strip of a measuring tape to measure Hermione and asked again " Are you right handed or left handed? " " Um, right handed ", Hermione said with shy smile. She was overjoyed that this is the day she received her wand even though she's been living in magical world for nearly seven years. " Very well then", Ollivander replied. " Time to figure out which one would be the best for you ". He walked over to the right shelf and picked up a long, rectangular, white box. He lifted the cover off the box and took out a long wand. " Try this", he suggested. Hermione took the wand and waved it slowly toward the door using a simple spell she thought and whispered 'Alohomora'. The wand lit up and the door clicked opened. Hermione smiled brightly as she stared at her wand. She turned to Tom and Draco that still stand nearby watching her with fascination. Hermione whispered with giddy at the boys and said " I did it!" Her eyes gleamed brightly with tiny flecks of gold scattered through her iris and the boys thought she looked adorable rather than her usual bossiness. Ollivander looked awe at the moment. " It looks like the wand was choosing you, young lady," said Ollivander. He smiled down at her. " Your wand was made of vine wood, possessed a dragon heartstring core". Hermione stepped away from Ollivander's desk while Tom and Draco walked closer to the desk. " Ah...You looked familiar to me, blonde hair and grey eyes... You're Lucius Malfoy's son, are you?" asked Ollivander. Draco looked a bit tense but he remained calm in front of them. " You're right, sir," said Draco slowly. Ollivander handed him a brown wand that matched Ollivander's dusty, brown coat. Draco raised the wand higher and flicked it. By the sudden, the spark caused a nearby shelf of wands to tip over. Ollivander purse his lips at the scene. He shakes his head while murmuring the sentence " Apparently not". It took him three times to try three wands but all of them didn't match to Draco. He was beginning to feel annoyance and also doubted himself. A delicate hand touched his shoulder and he turned his head to meet Hermione's eyes. She gives him an encouraging smile by saying " It's okay, Draco. Mr Ollivander will find a better wand for you." Hermione knew he was relieved by her words even though he maintained the arrogance attitude but she felt his tensed shoulder relaxed beneath her hand. Then, Ollivander pick out a box that carved with geometric patterns and lifted the cover off and took out a fifteen inches long wand. Draco's fingertips touched the wand and immediately feel the magic rushed over his blood. He waved it perfectly and it sparked brightly. Draco smirked with satisfaction. "It's core made from hawthorn wood and a unicorn hair. Very well, Mr Malfoy", said Ollivander. The last one to try was Tom. His first try was exactly like Draco but Tom had to do many tries and somehow it began to irked him. Tom looked around at many tipped shelves on the floor. Did this mean that he was less capable to do magic than others? He didn't like this thought at all. " Don't worry," Ollivander said casually as if he reading Tom's mind. " This might be the sign that you'll be destined with great one". Eventually, he came back holding a wand that captured Tom's interest. The wand was as white as a cloud with spots of black scattered below the bony fingers at the end. Ollivander was skeptical to give Tom the wand but he took the wand from the man's hand and waves it. It lit up and sparked making him raised his arm triumphantly and smiled. " It looks powerful and dangerous", said Tom without taking his eyes off from the wand. His comment making Ollivander uneasy so he tried to take it back but Tom jerked the wand from him and said " No...I like it. Thank you. " " That's holly and Phoenix feather. Each of wand would be seven galleons," said Ollivander sternly. Tom, Hermione and Draco paid the man and walked out of the shop. While they were walking along the crowded street, Hermione looked back at Tom as her thought still mulled the scene in Ollivander's shop where she felt a strong magic surrounding them after Tom holding his wand proudly like he hold the Master of Death's wand. She knew it was difficult to be with Tom when he was in his dark mood if he was mad, happy or sad. Since they were children, Tom was very mysterious that could make her hardly understand him sometimes. She noticed the tension from the man and couldn't help but felt guilty at him. She knew she couldn't changed the way Tom acted towards other people where he could make them comfortable and the next he'll treated them with cruelty. Sometimes, she argued with him about that but it ended up with him looking at her cold eyes and stormed out from the room leaving her miserable over her choice to make him begged for forgiveness or she choose to plead him back. There were times where their arguments resulting them not speaking with each other for two weeks because they both stubborn and it took Draco to reunite both of them back. She aware that Draco didn't said anything to them instead he just focusing on their next trip to Flourish and Blotts to buy school books based on the standard book of spells for the first year student. In the afternoon, they went to Madam Malkin to buy the school uniforms and Draco would dragged Tom and Hermione to the broom shop and purchased his first broomstick. Draco gushed all about the details of broomstick while Tom and Hermione could only nodded about what he was babbling on sports. Draco wasn't surprised that Hermione act nonchalant about sports because she's a bookworm girl but Tom was thirst for knowledge which adding the two nerdy bookworm their house. He had to rolled his eyes when he thought about it. He always consider himself a sharp mind too although he never read too much like the two nerdy over there. He preferred practical theory and he's quick to understand what he learnt given both of his parents were inherited the sharp thinking skills from their ancestors.
