Kamari sat at the bar of her father's nightclub, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of Nelvin, the mobster her father had chosen for her. Small talk filled the air between them, but Kamari couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
She was a mere pawn in her father's game, a piece to be moved according to his whims.
"I see. You're turning twenty soon, any big plans?" Nelvin asked as Kamari played with the empty glass of liquor on the table.
But before she could respond a man come up to them and whispered into Nelvin's ear.
"Im sorry love, I'll be back in a second." Nelvin apologized to Kamari, "Oh take your time, no rush. No rush at all." Kamari whispered the last part as he left her at the bar.
After Nelvin excused himself to attend a meeting with other mobsters, Kamari found herself left alone, waiting patiently in the midst of the bustling club. The dim lights and thumping music only served to amplify her restlessness.
Nelvin was the second mobster chosen by her father to accompany her after she met Julian. Kamari couldn't find herself interested in any of the two men except him, the rapper.
