The sky lost its beautiful color as the clouds took form. That ash color now taking the hue's place.

They're closer to the capital building now. Just a turn away, then Caleb could see his fathers face again. His stomach boiled with an enticing feeling just thinking about it.

After heading down some stairs that brought them to the ground and a gap between houses. Joel stumbled upon another dead body with a note attached to it.

"We got another dead firefly over here" Joel mentioned

"Let's just keep moving" Tess said

They tried to go through a gate with a narrow path behind it but found out it was locked. Caleb looked above the gate to see a flat piece of surface on top of it.

"There's something up there" he said

"Yeah, we could use that to walk on" she looked at Caleb with a slight smile "good eye, kid"

Joel found a dumpster and brought it over as help. After they all got over the gate, the capital building was sitting there ready for their welcoming.

It's here, the moment of truth.

They walked along the street past several abandoned cars until a large puddle presented itself.

"Um... just so it's out there, I can't swim" Ellie remarked

"It looks like it's shallow on the right side, follow me" Tess told her

Caleb followed them into the water. It stopped just inches above his waist and the temperature was more warm than he expected.

They'd go through the water until white stairs approached them. Finally, they were at the Capital building. Just a few more steps.

Each step he went up made him fill with chills. He couldn't deduce if this was excitement or nerves, but it didn't matter as long as he saw his dads face again.

After Joel opened the door, Tess frantically rushed in constant saying the word no. By the sounds of it, it didn't seem like things were good.

And things weren't good, as he came into the building and saw multiple dead bodies on the floor.

Tess was checking one of them desperately looking for something. Constantly saying the word no to herself.

"What are you doing Tess?" Joel asked as he walked over to her.

"Maybe they ah, had a map or something to tell us where they were going" you could hear her voice shaking with panic, like she was searching for something. "How far was that lab you mentioned, Ellie?"

"She never said, only that it was someplace out west" Ellie answered

"What are we doing here?" Joel said "this is not us"

"Us?" Tess questioned "What do you even know about me?"

"I know that you're smarter than this"

She let a moment of silence go pass before speaking again. "We're shitty people Joel." She said "it's been that way for awhile now."

"No, we are survivors, Tess"

Caleb saw the blood soaked into the collar of her shirt. "Tess..." he said "you're bleeding..."

Tess reluctantly pulled her collar away from her collar bone and shown the red bite mark engraved in her skin.

"Holy shit, she's infected" Ellie suddenly said

The look on Tess's face neither agreed nor denied that statement. She just stood there with her silence before making eye contact with Joel.

A shocking gasped left Joel's lips, "Oh Christ"
