“So what makes you want to get Levi a dog?” Bradley asked me as he sat in the passanger seat of my car. “He seemed to like Penny’s dog, Theo. And he’s always wanted one but we move a lot. I don’t know, I think we might stay here a little while after the mission is over.” She glanced at her friend with a smile. “Really? What are you going to do?” She shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know yet. Maybe teach at TOPGUN. If Pete can handle it, I’m sure I can. And plus, if I become an instructor at TOPGUN, I’ll have more time to spend with Levi.” I said. “What about Katrina? She’s your backseater. What will happen if you just quit?” I sighed at the thought of Katrina flying with someone other than me. “I’m sure she’ll find someone almost as good as me.” He chuckled at my coincidence. “What about Natasha? Don’t you guys normally get stationed together?” I nodded. “Yeah, we do but I mean, she’s got Bob now and shes still got Katrina. I think she’ll be fine without me.” Our topic got pushed to the side as our phones got a text at the same time. “Who is it?” I asked him not taking my eyes off the road. “It’s Maverick. Says we should meet him tomorrow at the Hard Deck.” I glanced at him with furrowed brows. “The Hard Deck? Why, what time?” I asked. “Not till later in the day." As I parked outside of Penny's house, Bradley handed my my phone when I seen the message from Pete.

Meet me at the Hard Deck, tomorrow at 6. Bring Levi. ;)

She smiled at the text as Pete wasn't acting as her teacher, but as her friend, like he said he would. "Okay, I'll be right back." Bradley nodded as Elaina stepped out of the car and headed towards Penny's house. As she chut the door to her car, Bradley let out a long breath. He rubbed his sweaty hands against his his jeans. He was confused on why he was so nervous around her. Not much has happened between them other than one night but now... Bradley couldn't get that one night out of his mind. Consumed in his thoughts, before he knew it Elaina and Levi were getting into the car. "Hi, Bradley!" Levi said, excitedly. "Hey kiddo." Elaina smiled at the interaction. "I have a surprise for you, buddy." She said to her son. "What is it?" He asked. "You'll have to wait and find out."

The drive was quiet other than Levi singing along to the radio. Elaina found it adorable that he tried singing every song he heard, even if he didn't know the words.

"We're here." Elaina said as she parked. Levi quickly looked outside the window to see a dog shelter. "Are we getting a puppy?!" He asked. "We are, baby." He unbuckled his seatbelt and rushed out of the car, eager to find his new best friend. "Well, let's go then." Bradley stared at the mother as she looked at her happy son with a bright smile. He could stare at her smile all day and never get tired.

As Levi looked at the options, Bradley and Elaina followed loosely behind him. "He must really love dogs." Bradley said breaking the silence. "Always has. Katrina has always said he's a dog at heart." Bradley looked at Elaina, admiring every small details about her. It was like he wanted to memorize everything there was to see. She obviously noticed the lingering eyes but didn't want to say anything. Although it did make her nervous to the point that her cheeks flushed a light shade of pink. "Mommy, look at this one!" Bradley ripped his eyes away from Elaina as she sped up to meet her son. As she crouched down, she met the cutest puppy she felt she had ever seen. "Husky." Bradley said as he moved to her level. "Rare to find in a shelter, most people keep them or sell them. They're very expensive dogs." Elaina talked to the puppy that ran in circles barking at them. Elaina and Levi admired the dog, but Bradley was admiring them. The smiles on their faces, the sparkle in their eyes. He couldn't help but focus on what was right in front of him. Slowly, he lifted his hand, brushing his fingers against Elaina's. Her lips pushed together to form a thin line as she felt the sudden contact. Their fingers intertwined instantly as if their hands were made to fit each other's. Elaina glanced down at their hands before looking back up at the dog with a smile. She didn't know how to feel about it exactly but she didn't necessarily want it to stop. "Can we get him?!" Elaina pulled her hand from Bradley's as she turned to focus on her son. Bradley's hand went pale as he couldn't feel her anymore. "Yes, of course, if he's the one you want, we'll take him. Just go tell the worker over there, okay?" Levi nodded and ran down the hall and waited patiently for a worker to become available. She wiped her hands on her pants as she stood from the ground. "I'm sorry-" Bradley began to apologize. "No, no. Don't apologize, it's fine, really. I just-" She sighed as she looked back at her son. Could she date someone now? She was training to go on a deadly mission while her son was at home, should she really be dating right now?

Tearing her from her thoughts, Bradley placed his hands on her shoulders and moved her further down the hall where no one, including Levi, could see them. "I know your worried about dating because you have a son. But Elaina, that boy is the sweetest boy I've ever met. And I'm more than happy to do anything for him." Elaina sighed as she leaned her head against the wall behind her. "It's not about Levi. I know he's ready... But am I? I haven't dated in almost 9 years." She told him. "And I don't care about that. I'm willing to wait for you if I have too." She smiled. "Thanks, Bradley." His eyes flickered down to her lips. "I'm going to kiss you, if that's okay." She took a deep breath and nodded her head. And before she could do anything else, Bradley pressed his lips against her. She instantly returned the favor, their lips moving in sync. It was like the other night all over again, except this time there was more passion in Bradley's actions.

"Mom?" Elaina pushed Bradley away, his lips feeling cold as she pulled away. "I'm right here, Levi." She walked over to him and a worker. Bradley was flustered. Kissing her was the best thing about being back at TOPGUN.

Next chapter is probably gonna be the dog-fight football scene but it'll be written differently because I'm not sure how to write exactly what's in the movie since it's a bunch of different clips put together. But I'm going to try my best and hope you'll like it.
