Their staring session was brought to an end by an amused Amyra.
'Rumour has it that Angraj is a perfect gentleman who wouldn't even as much as spare a glance at a lady but from the looks of it rumours can't be trusted after all.' She stated with a light mocking tone and that got to him, not to mention the recent events that lead him to have an unfondness towards ladies of high society which she very well appears to be with the way she carries herself but he knew better than to judge a person based on his first impression.
Although the implication behind those words did anger him but the speaker's presence kept his fury in check not to mention that he himself was aware of his improper behaviour.
'I am merely observing the stranger who managed to tame my Vayujit.' Karn replies back calmly masking his surprise at the turn of events.
'Truly careless for a king leaving a stranger unguarded in the palace, if it were a spy he would have easily got hold of all the info he needed.'
Now his blood boiled listening to the woman's taunt. Sure many have questioned his capability to rule when he was newly appointed as the king but their clamour didn't last long when he developed Anga from scratch and now its potential can be compared to that of Magadh making it one of the most powerful kingdom in the lands of Aryavrat.
But before he could respond with a befitting reply, he was again caught off guard by her next statement.
'All apart, I am really grateful for your help Angraj.' The sincerity in her voice was apparent and that instantly quenched his burning rage which was noticed by her.
'How foolishly gullible, no wonder others always managed to win after conspiring against him, whether it's his birth mother or Krishna or Indra.' Her eyes dimmed in correspondence with her thoughts which possibly was even missed by her.
'I hope you are well now and had a good rest.'
'Certainly, never felt this energetic since months'
'Then how about an introduction since you seems to know me already.'
The slight smile hadn't left her face since the onset of the conversation despite her inner debate. Her instincts telling her that if she informs of the truth, this man in front of her would leave no stones unturned before finding a way for her to return. And she decided against it not knowing it was that choice which laid the foundation to their beautiful affiliation.
The most possible way to make a lie believable is to mix it with half truths.
'I am Amyra, Amyra Silvester, am from outside Aryavrat. My family has been traders since generations. I came here to learn Aryavrat's cultures and traditions to expand our business.'
She stated her name, family background, her nativity and the reason of her presence here all in one go. She wasn't lying considering she came to India for a collaboration and the gala she attended was the after party of her successful partnership.
Karn was surprised hearing her identity, if not for her different styled clothing it was hard to believe she was a foreigner with her looks and fluent tongue, not to mention her being a vaishya, with the grace, elegance and arrogance she exhibited Karn was sure she was of royal lineage.
Maybe she saw his confusion so decided to explain it further.
'I might be from outside of Aryavrat but our ancestors belonged to this land and don't they say one should never forget his roots' And that explain her fluency in sanskrit. Which was again not a lie.
