An Indirect Kiss

After that day, Jennie didn't speak to Jisoo once.

She didn't smile. Laugh. Or even speak in her presence.

When Jisoo commented on it, she just stared blankly at her and said, "This is how I treat all my guards. This is what you wanted." Then she spun on her heels and walked away, with Jisoo trailing fearfully behind.

She did finally get to meet the young prince, Leo Rose Park.

He was only 6 years old and smiled widely. When Jisoo had come over, he was at John's kingdom with his grandma and uncle and aunt.

He came bounding up the vast palace stairs and stared blankly at her, before Jennie came beside the raven and he wrapped his arms around the princess's legs in a hug.

Jennie bent down and picked him up into her arms and her wrapped his legs around her waist before clinging onto her like a monkey.

She rubbed his back and said softly, "I missed you too, buddy."

Jisoo swallowed and saw Jennie briefly glance at her before turning around and walking away.

Jisoo sighed. I deserve that.

The raven saw Lisa wearing her a much more expensive dress than her usual work outfit. It was long and black, the same color she seemed to wear every other day.

She smiled at Lisa. "Peace looks good on you."

Lisa smiled softly and rolled her eyes. "Thank you, General." She squeezed her shoulder. "How are you holding up?"

The general took a deep breath. "Putting some distance between Jennie and me. We need....she's the heir to the throne. She can't be so close with the general of the army. People will talk."

Lisa scoffed. "People are already talking after that passionate hug of 'welcome back'. Everyone in the kingdom knows your reputation."

She swallowed. "It didn't cause trouble for John, Jennie or Leo?"

Lisa shook her head. "They had just wished you told them first but they are over it. I think Jennie was a bit disappointed for a few weeks but she seems better now."

Jisoo nodded and sighed. "She's upset with my decision of distance."

"She'll get over it. She cares about you too much to give so quickly." Lisa gave her another small smile and walked away.

Jisoo stared after her, pondering it and hoping for it to come true before following the royal handmaiden.

.................................

"Dancers?" Jisoo asked roughly as they sat around the table for dinner.

Lisa had taken Leo to sleep a few minutes ago and John was updating her on the news of the kingdom.

John's eyes twinkled. "Yes...dancers. They're coming from a foreign Asian country as a peace offering before we secure a trade route there."

Jisoo felt her face heat up at the thought of certain dancers she had seen during her time training.

Jennie noticed. "Why are you so weird about this?"

Jisoo shook her head and looked back at her food. She took a sip of water as John said, "Jennie's going to be performing with them."

She spit it out in a spray across the table. Fortunately the table was long and big enough that it didn't hit their faces.

She placed the gold glass down. "What?!"

Jennie silently raised an arrogant eyebrow. "What's the problem with it?"

"Everyone's going to be watching you!" She explained.
